So Yahoo has opened its doors once again for the annual tradeless fiasco that is the P&B Fantasy Baseball league. I've done the honours, in recent times, and am happy to do so again unless anyone else is up for it? Usual idea, if you are interested can you put your name down and roughly what time/day of the week suits best for a draft - the more drafters the better, it's quite a laugh.

Also, any suggestions for categories. Last year I made all the scoring positive, just to make it as simple as possible for the newcomers. If it's mainly the same folks, I might put some point losing categories, thus increasing the need for actual roster management. I'd quite like to necessitate or at least encourage trades, so if there are any ideas you have please suggest them. Cheers.

Splendid. Set it up just now.... nothing is set in stone so all suggestions as to scoring welcome, no offence taken. I've permitted the trading of drafts, just for a laugh, I've also limited the number of bench/DL spots, and increased the number of catchers, just to add a little depth to it. I can also expand to more than 15 teams if required. There's ages to go, so the time/date is merely to allow the registration at the moment.

Sunday evening has traditionally been a good time for the draft.
Would urge folk only to enter if they are planning to make trades and stay active throughout the season - my pet hate with UK Fantasy Baseball leagues is no trades and people who lose interest after 2 weeks.
I may enter this year after taking a year off in 2011.

Nope, not me mate... decided after the 2010 season I wasn't gonna bother with fantasy anymore. However, willing to give it another go this year.

Had a quick look at the rules, scoring etc....

My thoughts -

1) Would prefer fewer players (28 seems a bit much) - the draft is gonna take forever!
Would something along the lines of C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P, DL, DL (18 players) be sufficient.

2) Would suggest a weekly deadline for roster changes to avoid those who can't check their team every day losing out

3) Bonus points for no hitter and more points for complete game I'd have expected.

I'll sign up as soon as my Yahoo account stops messing around. Looking forward to at least the draft

p.s. that draft time is fine for me - but if it goes too late on Saturday i can't make it (got a Darts tournament to host). Sundays would be best - other than March 18th that i can't do, or it is midnight your time before i can really get on.


Also - don't worry about me if you can't get a date for everyone. I can be the odd one out and just take whatever autodraft gives me. I can then just use that as an excuse

As nobody complained, I've moved the draft date 24 hours to Sunday 11th at 6pm. I'm also going to try to bump up the numbers by posting on the Five Live Xtra facebook page. I'll advertise it as a beginner's league. Hope nobody minds, just feel the more the merrier.

Please by all means do. I've set it for 15 but can increase it if needs be. You'll have a tough time explaining the password to them, right enough!

Yes, there's always what I like to call a "Brian Bocock in the 4th round" moment. It's why the online draft is so much fun.

Wee bump. Currently at 13 or 14 teams, so it's going to be a much deeper draft than usual. Which should make it more entertaining. Still room for more though.

Ah f**k it, I'll give it another bash this year, i lost interest last year as roster management seemed to be akin to toying with the deckchairs on the titanic.

I probably need to read the rules more thoroughly, that's never been my strong point though.

Never mind, I'm sure the computer will be kind.

A wee reminder for everyone else, 6pm tonight is online draft time. Get a beer/can of ginger or two and a bowl of goodies - popcorn rather than cocaine - and sit back and have a blast. Usually takes about an hour. Might be slightly longer tonight as there's 15 of us.

For those who can't make it, be sure to pre-draft. Because DL lists aren't yet out, there will be some players who are out for the year/until the all-star break who will be auto-drafted. And some poor b*****d always gets Derek Jeter as a first round pick.
