Taken from the www.Highland.net site

This shows what can be done with a little thought and planning. Who said that Cup Draws look terrible and are hard to understand with Team A or B v C or D, I would have that any time. You just look for your team and follow the games through and you will quickly see who you might play, where and when! They even tell you who will occupy the HOME Dressing Room in the final

With a little bit of tinkering from the Top level hierarchy Junior football could perhaps get to this level. What a dream :blink:

The SHFL have moved quickly to take advantage of one of today's postponements to ensure that March 3rd sees all 18 clubs involved in action with Deveronvale v Turriff United being rescheduled for that date. The first round of the Breedon Aggregates Highland League Cup will take place on that date and due to the Strathspey Thistle v Nairn County tie both the Vale and Turra were set to be idle on that date. The day's other tie between Inverurie Locos and Fraserburgh simply replaced the league game between the two teams at Bellslea Park.

The second round sees the remaining sides going head to head although there is the possibility of a league fixture being added to that date depending upon which teams are knocked out in the first round.

Here is a reminder of the full draw for the Breedon Aggegates Cup
First Round - 3 March 2012
Strathspey Thistle v Nairn County
Inverurie Locos v Fraserburgh

Second Round - 17 March 2012
Huntly v Turriff United
Fort William v Formartine United
Lossiemouth v Inverurie Locos/Fraserburgh
Cove Rangers v Clachnacuddin
Keith v Brora Rangers
Buckie Thistle v Strathspey Thistle/Nairn County
Rothes v Forres Mechanics
Deveronvale v Wick Academy

Quarter-Finals - 7 April 2012

Cove Rangers/Clach v Lossiemouth/Inverurie/Fraserburgh
Huntly/Turriff United v Fort William/Formartine Utd
Buckie Thistle/Strathspey/Nairn County v Deveronvale/Wick Academy

Semi-Finals - 21 April 2012
1 - Buckie/Strathspey/Nairn/Deveronvale/Wick v Rothes/Forres/Keith/Brora
2 - Cove/Clach/Lossie/Locos/Fraserburgh v Huntly/Turriff/Fort William/Formartine

Final - 12 May 2012
The winner of semi-final ONE will occupy the home dressing room

I like this idea but to play devils advocate what happens when the adverse weather comes into play and games are postoned? Similarly what would happen if a team was still in the Scottish?

It doesn't always run smoothly up here :

The Highland League's Aberdeenshire Shield (13 teams) was supposed to have the five 1st-round fixtures this midweek (Tue/Wed 7th/8th Feb).
The four QFs the following midweek (Tue/Wed 14th/15th Feb).
The semis the following midweek (Tue/Wed 21st/22nd Feb).
And all be over with the Final on Tue 28th Feb.

All a bit ambitious at this time of year though. Only one of the five R1 fixtures survived the weather.
Cove Rangers v Peterhead was even called off (by the ref) for frozen ground in the goalmouths just FIVE MINUTES before KO, when both clubs had already completed their pre-match warm-ups and gone back to the dressing rooms ahead of coming out formally for KO !

Aberdeen FC just treat it as a tournament for their youth team, but Peterhead take it relatively seriously and had intended to put out a strong side. But despite their request that it be played on their normal training night of Tuesday, the Highland League scheduled the fixture for the Wednesday, so Peterhead rested some players who needed to recover from the night-before's training session.

But that fixture can't be rearranged for next midweek, since Peterhead already have a re-arranged SFL fixture (at Elgin) next Tuesday. Now there's a romantic evening out to take the Missus to on Valentine's !

So the Cove-Peterhead R1 match will take place on semis night;
the remaining R1s on QF night;
all bar Cove/Peterhead's QF on semis night;
if Peterhead beat Cove that QF can't be on Finals night either since Peterhead have another re-arranged SFL that midweek (all the way to Berwick and back on a Tuesday night - the nonsense that is the SFL !...

As others have noted - drawing cups through multiple rounds is not uncommon in Senior or Junior football. It's uncommon in Junior football to have preset dates, however, which are used in Highland and EOS leagues as well as SPL/SFL competitions. Even then they're subject to postponements and delays, though.

Not wishing to go off tangent, btw... but HFL trying to play a knock-out cup on a round-a-week basis, midweek, in February, strikes me as being ripe territory for problems!!
