Yeah, I guessed that would probably be the case. I know for internal flights I never get asked for a passport. In theory at least, shouldn't make any difference flying to London or Amsterdam.

We havent signed up for schengen

Not by law but as far as I'm aware all airlines insist for flights outwith the UK.

Not just the airlines - Eurostar ask for a passport/ID card check.

Also UK Borders Agency won't let you back in without a passport or a national identity card.

For internal UK flights BA don't ask either for a passport or an ID card/drivers license.

I've been on a fair few flights where I've checked in online and noone has asked to see any identification at any point...

Still - when travelling with Ryanair, better to be safe then sorry.

I avoid Ryanair cos I cant stand getting woken up mid-flight with a "BING BONG. BUY OUR SCRATCHCARDS". Coming back from London last week, Easyjet have now started doing the same thing, albeit without a "BING BONG" that would wake the dead.

My mate got his nicked at a lapdancing club in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago! Didn`t realise it until they were at the airport, nearest consulate where he could get a new one, San Francisco! Posted Image
Doesn`t help you much, but for goodness sake don`t lose it abroad!
