Hi Guys,

I've been a total dick and realised I can't find my passport anywhere and I'm supposed to be heading away for the weekend with the boys on Saturday morning. I think my only hope is to get it replaced but I'm not sure if I can or not. I've had a look online and it says that you can no longer get the fast track 1 day passport if it's lost or stolen but I had a funny feeling if I went in tomorrow morning to the building in person with all the correct details I could get a new passport before Saturday, even on the day tomorrow.

I know you used to be able to do it and someone else said that they think they just say that online but it's different in person, can anyone confirm?

Cheers

Ooft, sore one.

Hope you can get something sorted. :(

First I've heard that the fast track is no longer available, or it it the case it still is, but only for renewals?

If you were, for example, a big name footballer who discovered he'd lost his passport a couple of days before flying out for an overseas game, you can bet your bottom dollar it could be done then.

One day premium service still seems to be available. You MUST phone in advance for an appointment

EDIT: Ahh - sorry- doesn;t apply for lost or stolen. I would still call the number & plead though

So it's a case of you can't find it but not that you've took it out and defo lost it?

I'd get that house upside down and try remember when you last had it in your hand. Do you take it out with you for ID?

Pretend you've never had one. And then apply for two, at different times.

My brother realised he'd lost his the night before he was meant to fly in October. He managed to get a new one the next day with barely any time to spare. So it can be done. Never fear.

That's the annoying thing, I have a drivers licence so I would never take it out unless I had to for extra proof of ID or something so it's either in a ridiculous place or has been chucked out by the missus by mistake but both of us would know if there was a passport in an envelope or something, we would always check so that doesn't sound right, it's very strange.

We gutted the whole flat for 4 hours solid last night, ripped out every cupboard and bag, a horrible feeling that I hope doesn't happen to any of you guys anytime soon.

Anyway, wish me luck!

Careful with the photos, as they are very strict with the guideline and reject them for the slightest thing

That's true. Having said that, you're told to wear a white shirt, have your head fill most of the shot and most importantly, don't smile.

Yet my (10 year old passport) has me wearing a hoody, only taking up half the shot, and grinning like a total simpleton.

Passport photos are accepted if they accurately reflect the reality.

All sorted!, just in case this ever happens to anyone else you CAN get it on the same day although it cost me £130. It took 4 hours and you need to have your forms filled out, photos and have both signed. Thankfully my passport was out of date 2 year ago an renewed so they still had that info on file but if that wasn't the case I would have had to come back at a later time or date. I just went in there to pick it up and the place was a riot, people going mental all over the place. Get in early if you need to do this or simply don't be a dick like me and lose it in the first place!.

Amsterdam here I come!.

My mate got his nicked at a lapdancing club in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago! Didn`t realise it until they were at the airport, nearest consulate where he could get a new one, San Francisco! Posted Image
Doesn`t help you much, but for goodness sake don`t lose it abroad!

Caldwell is actually a great centre half however consistency can be an issue for him, technically his distribution of the ball for a defender is as good as Pique or Puyol.

Do you actually "have" to have a passport to fly somewhere within the EU?

Glad you got it sorted as I know what you mean about the place being a riot. Of course the only people there are the folk who have cocked up and need a passport desperately so of course they're panicking. I forgot to put one of my daughters on our passports when they were kids. The passport office wanted to see my travel documents before they'd do a one-day service for me and I didn't have them with me. Worse still, I was going to holiday in the south of England for a week before leaving the country so they said I could have it the day before my ferry which meant I'd have to come back or forget the week in England.

Inevitably I grovelled and begged and got it the next day but all around me were people shouting the odds demanding immediate action.

As a follow-up, no-one checked the passports on the way out but they got a thorough going-over on the return including asking us to "prove" the kids were ours  . What would they have done if they weren't on the passports? Confiscate the kids?

Yes I think so. If its around the UK a driving licence is fine

I thought that they can give you an emergency/temp bit of paper that acts as a passport in emergency situations if your waiting for a new passport as long as you have all your documents and photos ready like you did.

Ryanair are the exception to this - you need to have a passport to fly on any of their flights.

Kinda fits with them being a shower of c**ts. I remember when they first started making people print off their own boarding cards. One family had forgotten / couldn't do it, and were charged a princely £160 (£40 x 4) for the privilege at the airport.

If you'd hunted high and low for the passport, finally found it at the last minute and went to the airport with a spring in your step only to find out at the checkout desk that it had expired, I'd have had a good chuckle at your misfortune, sorry!

I've previously lost two passports, both while moving flats. I'm on my last warning otherwise if I have to get a new one then I have to go for an interview in London to make sure I'm not selling them on to criminal masterminds.

Strangely, when I flew out of London on Saturday the guy at check in never gave me the sheet back which had my return flight details on it, just the boarding pass for the outgoing flight. Its my first time going abroad/on a plane so I never realised until I got to Kyiv, must just need to print it off again. And its also a shite airline so I shouldn't be too surprised

Not by law but as far as I'm aware all airlines insist for flights outwith the UK.

Yeah, I guessed that would probably be the case. I know for internal flights I never get asked for a passport. In theory at least, shouldn't make any difference flying to London or Amsterdam.
