pull Clyde back within touching distance
That us beyond touching distance now?
East Stirling truly are awful - and I always felt if we applied ourselves and got back to the work ethic that has picked us up points this season we would win at a cantar, and we duly did.
From the off it looked that Hay in particular had a point to prove, and it did not take long fro the midfield to take control of the game. Don't quite know how John Neill didnt make contact but having seen the highlights Shite - sorry Shire left back Dingwall has a liitle hand on Neill's arm and did enought to prevent any contact - not a penalty by the way!
Now penalty number 1, Like David W says, i assumed there must have been a push as it appeared all McQueen had to do was nod it in. From the highllights, there is a push on McQueen - and the guilty culprit again was Dingwall. Sweeney took a fine penalty to put us 1 up. I remember saying at the time that I hoped Sweeney didnt get another penalty that day as he takes a right good penalty.
We nearly scored one of the goals of the season, all started from a throw out from Crawford to Oliver, who then combined with Sweeney, Neil and Brannan to cross for McDonald whose effort was actually well blocked. Great move.
Penalty number 2 - Just was never a penalty and justice was done when Sweeneys cursed penalty was saved by Antell fairly easily.
Just into 2nd half we scored a great 2nd goal. Oliver again involved feeding the ball to McDonald who combined well with Brannan and Neil who released Sweeney making a great run behind strikers, to pull the ball back to Sloss to score his first senior goal.
3rd and final goal was down to some great perseverance from Neill, and although he has performed better this season, hist attitude was spot on yesterday, that was evident when he won the ball to help set up a chance for Kane who pulled his shot just wide.
The icing on the cake almost came at full time, when a nice piece of interplay from Kane and Sweeney seen the latter take a cutback and crash against the bar when he should have scored.
No real let-downs for me, and I only wish Sloss would have got himself more involved in the game, but for his first start, and shin splints a debut goal is really not bad at all.
Now i've not been all over Gray's MOTM wins on the website as of late - he's been ok to me - but I thought he was outstanding yesterday and to me potentially the best player we have at the club.
The much maligned management team

need to take credit for refusing just to lump it back to front to a small front two, even though Shire are very samll for defenders at the back. On a shocking pitch(why so bad NLL?) the intent to play football was very good to see, and now that we near enough have ensured we will finish above where we finished last season, then I am hopeful we can continue these tactics to see how high up the league we can get. Not getting carried away but a good boost ahead of Tuesday
PS - have we won two on the bounce this season?
