Not sure, I'd assume that you go in with 6, 7 or 8 and you'll be accepted. TBH, other than not spending the night on your own, I'm not sure you really need teams. I thought it was just you need to get to each point, uninfected with zombie-ness and at each point you'll be told the next place to go to. If anything, smaller teams are better, so that you don't need to wait on people.
