Having a bit of a debate with some guys about who the best player in the Premier League is. Needless to say there's a fair bit of disagreement!

Who would you say is the best player in the PL?

Want to use this to settle the debate so I won't tell you the names we came up with.

David Silva has been off the boil for about 2 months. He's been playing at no where near the standard he set at the beginning of the EPL season. The correct answer is Van Persie.

Van Persie without a shadow of a doubt. Some players are better when on form but Van Persie consistently performs at a very high standard making him no1 in the Premiership.

Robin Van Persie is the best player in the world not playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid at the moment. He's the best player in the Premir League by a distance.

I think you could make a case for any of the three serious mentions so far. Silva, van Persie and Toure have all had storming seasons.

Flavour of the month? Since 1st January 2011 he has scored 50 goals for Arsenal in 54 games in all competitions and 6 goals in 6 games for Holland. He's the top scorer in the Premier League by a distance even though he's playing for a team the media have described as - among other things - being in crisis for the majority of the season, he also has a number of assists (although I don't know how many) and his link play is consistently excellent. He's an absolutely phenomenal football player and although Silva and Yaya Toure are quality, Robin Van Persie is the bst player in the Premier League.

The defence rests m'laud 8)

Van Persie. He's everything you would want from a top quality EPL player and he is in the form of his life right now. I don't think there's any team in the world he wouldn't fit in at.

Currently RVP, there can be absolutely no (serious) argument.
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.
Die, die, die....I can't

Right now, Van Persie is playing ahead of anyone else in the league. As someone who leans towards Arsenal, i'd hate to see that state of the team if he was to be out injured. His movement is unplayable at times and his goalscoring record over the past 15 or so months is as good as any other striker in the world.

Apart from the names already mentioned, I would rate Demba Ba and Clint Dempsey as players currently at the top of their game. I would also say that had it not been for the injuries, Ledley King would have been a standout defender in the league.

Silva

I think Yaya Toure was the best player last season.
