Welker is best receiver on the Pats (still not seen Lloyd with Brady yet so I won't add him into this). He's Brady's safety blanket if the play breaks down.

I agree with that but I wouldn't feel comfortable with Edelman or Ebert (rookie out of Northwestern). Pats offered 2 years $16 million fully guaranteed. Welker's looking more for a 3/4 year contract, along the same lines as Moss got in 2008.

Welker came back from his knee injury catching 86 balls for 848 yards in 2010. In 2011 (one year after recovering from the injury) catching 122 for 1569.

Every player who has had that sort of injury has played better in the 2nd year back from the injury (Brady in 2010 - 36 TD's and 4 interceptions then being named MVP).

I won't expect AP to be back to his best either until '13 season.

Isn't it weird how NFL players are constantly getting done for drunk driving, firearms charges and a load of other shite? For one Ched Evans here theres 30 in the NFL. Every week a player seems to be getting jailed, its pretty much accepted as part and parcel of how things are there.

The problem isn't just in the NFL, you look at NBA, NHL and MLB players during the offseason and the same thing is happening to them.
Biggest problem is that the players are often from poorer areas with poor education and then they are suddenly given millions of dollars and have no idea how to handle it.
Once read an interesting article by Bill Simmons on ESPN where he went on about how some players in the NFL & NBA were living pay check to pay check due to the number of woman they had on the go and how many so called friends they had hanging around bleeding them dry.

I don't understand it. Bell, Landry and Smith cannot cover the pass. Unless we re-sign Jim Leonhard, who is made of glass, we only have a 6th round draft pick to play against the pass.

I read somewhere teams may go to a "Big Nickel" D. They are designed with 3 Safeties to cover the Tight Ends but as you say those 3 can't cover the pass. It may work, it may not.

I think the Jets are going/want to try and stop Gronkowksi and Hernandez but that may not work now with McDaniels being back in NE, he will be evolving the Offense from the 2 TE package to a Spread O.
