I don't really know what to think about the game this weekend. One one hand, you'd like to think that we'll be able to bounce back, show a bit of fight and try to win a bit of pride back after the humiliation on Saturday. With Falkirk missing 2 of their most important players in Dods and El Alagui, and having sold Higginbothom last week, it really does give us a perfect opportunity to get back on our feet.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that we have the fighting qualities and the leadership at the moment to be able to do that. I know we tend to harp on about it, but injuries have killed us this season, particularly to our skipper Stuart McCaffrey. I had no idea how much we relied on him on the pitch, and others like Marc Smyth and Andy Graham, guys that have enough experience of playing at this level, just have not stepped up to the plate.

I know he was not the most talented of players, but I would 100% support bringing Stewart Greacen back to the club until the summer. The big guy has the heart of a lion, and is passionate and full of fire. Might just be the right influence in the dressing room to try and turn things around a bit. Whether we can afford him, or anyone for that matter, is another question.

Mortons biggest problem is the players attitudes. Not one person, other than Peter Weatherson and maybe Andy graham knows what playing for morton is all about. ( Even and that, they dont often show it) These two guys are morton supportes, Peter being with morton for sometime now and Andy being a life long fan. Its ever so apparent thats theres no heart or desire in that dressing room. No one seems to understand the concept of fighting for the club and their jersey. Too many players with a stinking attitude. Turn up, train, play, get paid and go home. It seems to make hee haw of am difference wether we win, lose or draw. Its a fucking discrace IMHO. Morton have one of the larger budgets in the leage and yet we still cant feild a team who give a f**k. Its worrying as a supporter: Attendances have dropped, team are shite, talks of part-time football etc etc etc.

Oh we will probably go out and hump Falkirk.

I don't think we will be able to cope with the Tidser/Fred partnership in midfield. Adding to that they have the best goalscoring partnership in the division. I'd bite your hand off for a draw but can't see past 3-0 Morton :(

We have the most hilarious defence though, so it's 6 and half a dozen really.

But we've sold our creative player and our star striker is suspended, Between them they had 30-odd goals or something so we have no strikeforce whatsoever.

I really fear for us.

Our only hope is to pack the defence and park the bus. Maybe Pressley can persuade his old mate Moore to reveal some tips on that front?

Would like to think that Moore would be able to address our suicidal defence for this one , but we've been roasted a few times this season and continue to lose shitty goals every other week - so I wonder if he can do anything to fix it ? But as you suggest, the loss of quality from the Falkirk side (particularly Farid) should give us a chance of a draw anyway. Weatherston always worries me so I hope we have some kind of plan for him. I'm sitting on the fence with a draw for this game.
I'm very pessimistic about our fixtures for February and if we cant get anything at home against a weakened Falkirk side then we are well and truly fecked.

Wee Moorey will write it all down on the back of a postage stamp. Saturday was not so much parking the bus as 'park n ride'
I'll leave it to you to work out who parked and who rode :(

I wouldnt go that far, I think we will pack the midifield and I cant see White starting. I can see us starting with Weatherston up top and then pack the midfield with one or two midfielders to support Weatherston

Tight game in prospect. Falkirk will score but whether it's enough to win the game, I don't know.

Yes, Peter is the very paragon of virtue, integrity and professionalism remaining at the club. Forget McCaffrey or our current captain, give Peter the captain's armband, for taking a pay cheque for the best part of a decade while largely neglecting his own duties as a professional, to maximise his own performances (hint: fish suppers and nights out in McCabes don't count).

If only they were all like Weatherson, or his chums the Maisanos, then we'd definitely be in a better position than, err, mid-table in the First Division. I hear Forfar is lovely at this time of year.

At this rate of collective breakdown we'll have 40 home fans in the ground and the rest in the car park greeting about a cup defeat, having lost all sense of perspective.

Expecting more than usual for a game against the division's behemoths then?

You'll score at least two. One from a set-piece (Dods as a shoo-in if he's not suspended) and Weatherston will score his usual goal(s) behind our high defensive line (filled, as ever, with creakingly slow defenders), and then do next to nothing else against all your other opponents.

That said, I don't particularly rate Falkirk's defence either, and think we might well get a few goals of our own.

We normally have a better crowd at Ross County away. Not sure how this is relevant though.

I believe Stewart Greacen is available.

Get him signed up to guarantee someone will attack the ball with some conviction, whilst offering leadership, or at least bring him in as a trialist for a month to shore up defence.

How effective was his 'leadership', that saw us concede 65 league goals in his last full season playing at centre-half?

I agree with you that Morton will score, but our defence is worth more than your entire first team squad, probably more than treble actually.

Yeah, Greacen isn't the answer. He'd be an improvement on Graham of course, but if we're going to use Andy Graham as the benchmark when signing players we'll be in the Third Division soon.

Cool story bro. To be perfectly honest, I couldn't give a shit, but I'm sure someone does.

The only thing Greacen would have added to a crisis game like Saturday's were:

1. Getting a massive bandage on his napper for a cut, after launching a diving header for a ball at boot height.

2. A horrendous straight red tackle at 4-0, which would have earned smatterings of applause for 'Captain Courageous'.

Defending straight from the Colin Hendry tutorial, on how to be a carthorse but look 'brave' about it.

No need for the hostility, you should be enjoying yourself more this season. You've admitted yourself your at the peak of your cycle - at the heady heights of 7th in the First Division

And when you consider tops are currently worth about £20 (with the mid-season sale) I make that a total of £600,000. Sounds about right to me. :D

Still less than Murray Wallace. I was meaning the tops at the cost from the supplier anyway.
