Right folks, quick question
My cousin is coming up from Portsmouth tonight and is intending going the game tomorrow with my Dad and another bloke. I am taking them into Falkirk to get the train to Glasgow ( I can't go as I have my daughter staying and she wants to go swimming at 6). What station at Greenock should they get off at? Also, what times are the trains for returning back to Glasgow. Thanks in advance Posted Image

Nearest to the ground is Cartsdyke, just round the corner. If they're going for something to eat or will be there early then Greenock Central.

Train times: Scotrail

I read that as your dad, cousin and daughter going, ha. I'll add then that if they're going for a swally beforehand then there's loads of good pubs near central as well.

The only thing we will agree on is that our defending in this current season...the one which matters instead of historical statistics....is plainly unacceptable and could still lead to a worrying relegation battle. My humble apologies for daring to question your opinion.

No, I don't agree with this. Barring last Saturday's game - against a very strong SPL side - I see little evidence showing our defending being generally unacceptable, I certainly didn't see any when we went to Dens, twice, and kept two comfortable clean sheets and won both games.

And there is no chance of a relegation battle unless the knicker-wetters get their way and we sack a competent manager for some media-friendly dud like John fucking Robertson. We are no poorer than any other side in the mid-table pack, and significantly better than the dross at the bottom.

If I was Moore I'd go with this 11:

McGinley

Weatherson, Graham, Evans, Little

Young, Tidser, Bachirou, Obrien

Mcdonald, Campbell

Awful, awful selection. How is introducing a new right back and rookie goalkeeper to an already unsettled back-line going to solve anything? What does Andy 'I stood on the terraces and play like your average fan too' Graham have to do to actually get dropped, permanently, and shown the door?

We choose to play him at the end of the season when there's no pressure. We don't throw him in at the deep end, when the side couldn't be much lower on confidence, and the fans extremely impatient.

What you're doing is turning a possibly decent option into an Andy Carlin.

Quote

He's played one game, looked decent, conceded a penalty and didnt flap at anything a la Colin Stewart.

Had Colin Stewart conceded the same penalty then he'd have been absolutely slaughtered for it by the usual suspects. You're just applying different standards because he's a kid.

Quote

It's the back four that finished the game last week, played ok. No doubt you left at half time and didnt see this!

If you're selectively whitewashing over Andy Graham's overall, despicable performance last week, then sure.

It's the back four that played the second half vs Motherwell. Played well, although Motherwell undoubtedly took there foot of the gas. IMO Graham holds his position better than Smyth and him and Evans have a much better understanding.

I don't recall an earlier game this season where Graham and Evans have been the centre-half partnership, so is this 'much better understanding' based on 45 minutes against a Motherwell side conserving energy?

This isn't to say that there aren't changes that could (and should be made), but tomorrow is certainly not the time to unsettle the defence, even more than it already is.

For the record, Evans and Graham played together in the 1-0 loss to Dundee at Cappielow and the 5-1 win over Deveronvale. While I agree this is a pretty much untried partnership, I think adding Weatherson, who has a few seasons at RB under his belt, along with Little is worth a go. When is the correct time to change? When were 2 or 3 goals behind again? The Centre half pairing of Smyth and Graham has yielded one clean sheet this season. Smyth to me always looks more comfortable in Midfield.

Weatherson is a poor right-back at this level, and always has been. His seasons at right-back were largely in the seaside leagues, when we didn't have to defend.

When the defence has gained a level of stability, in a few matches time, when gradually the side can be reshaped. Not straight after a 6-0 pounding when they're likely to be short on confidence and just commit more mistakes. Organisation is key to defending and as soon as you set a precedent for chopping and changing players, it's a downward curve.

Smyth was rubbish in midfield, I'm not sure where this myth has sprung from. He's either a centre-half or not in the team, but given Andy Graham is even worse, he still squeezes into the side by default.

I think were way beyond the shouting for stability stage, the same back 4 (or 5 including keeper) haven't started more than 3 games in a row this season. I completely disagree, surely after a 6-0 defeat that is the time to change?

The problem wth Smyth is, he's a wanderer. If he wanders about in the midfield, theres usually a line behind him. If he plays at the back, then theres only a keeper. Off the top of my head, the 1-0 game at home to Dunfermline last season, clean sheet, Smyth in Midfield.

No, because it means putting out a completely new backline for the next game, with no confidence and no sense of organisation. Which makes matters worse.

Smyth played in midfield when we lost 4-3 to the Midden this season, also 5-0 at Firhill earlier this season. Graham and Evans played centre-half too.

Really up for this game now after our week off. Love going to Morton with its old stand and great view, proper football.

Feeling really positive about this game, despite us missing Farid and Higgy (really wish him well at Huddersfield by the way). Will get shot down for this, but I think 3-1 bairns, with Willie Gibson (who we need a nickname for) scoring on his debut.

whatever the score is tomorrow against a massively weakened falkirk side i fully expect morton to get dragged into the relegation battle & find their rightful place in scottish football..i.e bottom of the first...top of the second. thats where average crowds of less than 2000 should be and im sure they will be back there soon. at least they would be one of the bigger teams at that level rather than one of the smallest at this

Morton must fancy their chances against a weakened Falkirk side. 1-1 I reckon.

Falkirk are chasing 6th in the SPL, which I believe would be their best ever finish

Falkirk FC breaking the rules once more........According to Bloobell-End

Bit embarrassing if Morton lose to us tomorrow.
They might beat us fair and square this time.

Shut up. If you'd seen the last game between us at Cappiellow, you'd know that we had at least two legitimate goals chopped off, so we were therefor cheated. Unless there is something wrong with that logic. Tit.

So you are blaming Morton for the goals you should have had, and not the officials?!

Interesting the wording there. Every Morton fan, especially VT and Toby assures me the correct decision was made.
