Peebles 0-5 Greenlaw

Serves Peebles rite,,game should never have been on,,the Peebles management should hang there heads in shame,,putting players at risk on a pitch like that,,surely when the Border Cup final is postponed on the pitch next to their pitch and Linton Hotspurs game at the same venue postponed,,the Referee should take a look at himself as well because he should have known better with the conditions underfoot more suitable for rock climbing than playing football, or is it a case now with the refs turn up and allows the game to go ahead regardless the safety of the players so he can pick up his fee.??on the other hand well done Greenlaw.

Who was the ref? Find it strange both teams managed to play a game on it

If he'd called it off, he'd get half his fee.

As I stated earlier this game by all accounts should have never went ahead. Have to agree with earlier posts, management at that club canny be right  from what I've heard today. Players safety should be paramount. Take a puck down next time and u might of got on better.

Easy win for Greenlaw looking at scoreline.

Down to the ref this one, teams cannot refuse to play. IF it was playable you would have to ask why the final was off? Safety first in all cases.
It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

How many times does both teams turn up and want the Ref to play the game and he won't. This had nothing to do with Fees. No doubt the Peebles lad should have called the game off, but Greenlaw had come through a blizzard to get there and the Peebles lads were stripped and raring to go.
A decision was made by everyone there that as the pitch had been rolled and was level with no ruts we would start the game, but if it looked dangerous it would stop.
Credit to both sets of players and the Referee the game was played in the right spirit and went off without any injuries.

I didnt actually see the pitch but going by reports from staff from other teams in Peebles the pitch was by no means playable therefore it is of great concern that the game went ahead. It must have been a minor miracle and pure luck that nobody was seriously hurt its very easy to say that "because both teams are here we would be as well playing"i'm sorry but that should'nt come into it the players safety is paramount. The home team who if in doubt should have called a local referee to inspect the park but taken into account that both the cup final and the linton hotspur games who where on the adjacent parks where called off it does'nt sound like the pitch was ever playable. As for the referee playing the game it beggars belief, how would he have felt if somebody had got seriously hurt, but after hearing who it was im not surprised the game went ahead!!! he really needs to take a look at the bigger picture not his match fee!!

Surely if the pitch was actually physically unsafe, one or both sides should have refused to play? If both sides were happy to play and the ref also felt the pitch was safe to play, what's the big problem?
