Hi! I sometimes see Shawfield Juniors mentioned on the Junior boards UP THERE. I can't for the life of me imagine where the pitch would have been situated. Supposedly schools held their Cup Finals there. Does anybody have an address of the old ground..and could somebody tell me, if you know that particular area now, what is now over the top of it. Thanks a lot!

It was on Toryglen Road, slightly south east of Wolesley Street.

If you use Google Earth's historic imagery, you can see it from 31st December 04 with the overgrown pitch and terraces clear.

The pitch now has a new road though it, and is next to the M74 extension.

Passed the ground a few times up till it was bulldozed. The place oozed character.

When I was at school in Rutherglen there was a pitch way past Rutherglen station and heading towards Glasgow Green that we used to play on. Were told it was Shawfield Juniors old ground.

It was more than a pitch, it had terraces and cover etc

Yep think that's it. It was late 60's. There was a rumour the land was contaminated with buried chemicals or something.

Here's an aerial picture that shows the ground and the Oatlands area, every house in that pic is now gone. The church at the top of the picture is on Polmadie Road and, and can be seen at the left of the image linked from google maps.
