So you're just going to ignore last season?

He wasnt outstanding last season, I'd say Pepe Reina was better last year.

Just give it up, He isn't the best keeper in the worls ffs.

top of my head, i'd rate Casillas, Cesar, Neuer, Reina, Handanovic, Lloris and maybe Valdes. and not forgetting Buffon as better goalkeepers.

These guys have been doing it season in, season out for years now. Joe Hart isn't close to the above at the moment.

Joe Hart is NOT the best goalkeeper in the world.
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.
Die, die, die....I can't

I would say that Tim Krul at Newcastle is on about as good if not better form than Joe Hart, he has kept them in matches countless times this season and I think he is about 3 years younger so has a hell of a lot of time for improving further.

Joe Hart may not be the best keeper in the world but he isn't far off, some of the names suggested as better than him are laughable aswell. Only really Neuer and Casillas are clearly better, after that he could be third, there all much of a muchness from what I have seen.

Why does Joe Hart make such continual and high profile errors if he is the best goalkeeper in the world? Why, in a Napoli game Man City need a result, did he badly let his team down consider two really poor goals and why was it embarrassingly swept under the carpet with media outlets proclaiming a "heroic" performance? They knew he had a complete shocker they just couldn't say it.

He is on the level of Paul Robinson and David James, an inevitable high profile error (his speciality) for England in a tournament and he will gravitate towards the level of these two players. People used to think they were the best in the world too when they were Englands number one - James in particular.

The point about him not being the best because he is English is patently nonsense, I take you can just advance this on any player and have this as your sole rebuke? Heskey is better than Messi and anyone who doesn't think so is only doing so because Heskey is English? If that is the desperate standard of your response then even you will know he is not the best in the world. Oh, and Casillas and Valdes are both far better goalkeepers, Neuer is good but will get a lot better.

But, anyway, barely a footballer Micah Richards got the armband ahead of him for Man City. Why not give it to him? We'd all love to see a repeat of his Croatia performance.

I didnt see the Napoli game so I can't comment on the goals, but are you suggesting that after some of Hart's tremendous performances over the last two seasons (Spurs and Liverpool instantly spring to mind) he isnt one of the best/promising keepers in the world? FWIW I think he is a better keeper than Valdes and could dislodge him from the Barcelona team.

I said this in a previous thread but i'll repeat it. I think Hart is a tremendous 'keeper. Some of the praise has been a bit OTT but nonetheless he's pulled off some incredible stops. However, his distribution is distinctly average and you aren't going to get a game in the goal for Barcelona if can't control a ball and pick out a pass.

Yeah, Robinson and James had some brilliant performances too. All goalkeepers have great performances, let's be honest. I remember Myhill and Steele having incredible games in recent seasons. Does that make them great goalkeepers? Does it hell. It would depend a lot on what you mean by best/promising keepers but I don't think he will be at Man City in 5 years - put it that way.

You can think that if you want but I clearly disagree. Hart makes far too many errors to get a game for Barcelona, and without the English media protecting him he would be slaughtered.

I remember Paul Gallacher making some incredible stops, shot stopping is, by far, the easiest part of being goalkeeper.

Joe Hart is just too shaky in goal. He has been at fault for many of the goals conceded by City this season, and I'd go as far as to say City should be looking to replace him ASAP if they are to look at winning the title.

2) His distribution of the ball. He's a very tidy defender with the ball at his feet. The second best pass completion % in the EPL. He is, of course, aided by Chelsea almost always using a Mikel/Romeu figure at the base of the midfield. That gives him an easy pass when needed, but he doesn't just rely on that.

He only needs to pass the ball ten yards in front of him to Mikel, Ramires or Romeu. He's hardly pinging the passes about.

I'd hardly say he was at fault for Bale's goal, that was an absolute screamer.

This could get rather messy. Who picks the captain, the manager or the suits? Who in the current squad is going to pick up the armband, knowing that the manager doesnt consider you the real captain? Also, the talk that some of the squad are 'snubbing' Terry, does this mean they now stand against Capello?

England do seem to always manage to make a proper arse of preparing for a tournament.

Gab Marcotti ''Capello never said John Terry is still captain to me, or anything like it"

I doubt this fact will get in the way too much.

If it goes to Scott Parker does that means he is guarenteed a starting place?

Fantastic, now for Lampard, Barry and Gerrard to join him in the midfield. Could say Carragher as a holding midfielder but that's maybe hoping too much.

Scott Parker is a very average football player. Milner would be a better option in that role. Parker simply does not want the ball as he can't use it. I watch him when watching Spurs and he hides when the centre halfs have the ball when he should be looking for it.
