Terry has been in decline for years . Not having cavaliho to cover for his lack of pace etc has only highlighted this.
On the other matters of Terry the man - well he is a piece of shot
just ask the people he was doing aeroplane imnpressions in front of only days after 9/11
ask wayne bridge
check the NOTW archives where he was taking backhanders to show folk around stamford bridge........ etc etc

Erm, Ferdinand? I'm sure Mr Terry was happy to shake hands........ The man may be w@nker but he's yet to be proven guilty of racism. Will you be badgering the Uruguayan FA to kick out Suarez?

This. It's a mark of how good Carvaliho was/is that he made Terry look like a star. As soon as he left Terry's lack of pace and positional disipline was there for all to see.
I remember Joachim Löw after Germany pumped England in South Africa was asked how they managed to take England apart so easily and his matter of fact reply was along the lines of "Terry is really easy to drag out of position, so we just targeted him" or words to that effect

Agreed, I think Carvalho must be one of the most underrated players in the last decade. It is no coincidence that Chelsea have gone downhill and Madrid have been much more solid at the back since he went there. Unfortunately for him, he now has to cover for the mistakes of Pepe who is even more of a liability than Terry!

I was at the Spurs - Sunderland game before christmas and I actually took a minute or two to watch King on his own. He really is a fantastic player.
The Spurs fans song of "Oh Ledley, Ledley, he's only got one knee, he's better than John Terry, oh Ledley, Ledley" is genius as well.

To be fair he is one of the better English CB's around (although when the competition is Rio and Cahill it's not a great field to chose from) but by no means is he the defender he was 5 years ago.
He's prone to be caught under the ball more often than not, is slow on the turn and it's fair comment to say that he no longer commands the same following he did as a captain before the Bridge issues and the Ferdinand complaint.
There's no way he could have been the captain for England but likewise no way he will not be going, so the only question is will he have the same disabling affect he had on the squad at the Euro's as he did at South Africa.

There are two things I like about him as a player:
1) His ability to play his best, even when all hell is going off in his personal life.
2) His distribution of the ball. He's a very tidy defender with the ball at his feet. The second best pass completion % in the EPL. He is, of course, aided by Chelsea almost always using a Mikel/Romeu figure at the base of the midfield. That gives him an easy pass when needed, but he doesn't just rely on that.
Those are the main exceptions to him being a grade A c**t, though.

I dont think anyone is saying he is guilty, But he has been charged.
it's only sensible thing for the FA to do. You cant have a man leading his country that has been charged with giving out racist abuse.
Keeping in mind the "outrage" from the FA over Sepp Blatter comments about settling it with a handshake

If he is convicted of the crime he is in court for, then yes, by all means strip him of the captaincy, but all these people spouting pish down south about how he should be removed because of "the example he would set to kids". If your kids are taking their examples from footballers, then blame your deficient parenting.

Not many people are saying he's guilty, but many are saying he's racist, which is implying guilt.
A charge doesn't mean he's guilty.
I just can't believe it's being allowed to drag on for so long.
Suarez has all but served his ban, yet this won't be concluded until July.
I'm sure Terry would rather have it over and done with too.
I see what you'rer saying, but if a charge is enough to keep someone form their job, why bother with a trial and how will terry get a fair trial now anyway?

Please tell me that isn't a serious post.
By the way, anyone who has seen the youtube footage knows that John Terry is guilty.

Plenty of people arre remanded into custody when being charged for a crime waiting for the case to be called to court, doesnt mean they are guilty either,
Unfortunatly waiting for a charge to come to court isn't something uncommon in Scotland or England, Keeping in mind this is a pretty "low level" crime compared to what the courts deal with every other day. They can't treat him any different to anybody else.
dont think we can compare Terry and Suarez, Keeping in mind Suarez was only dealt with by the FA. bit of a difference between them and the English legal system.

I'd give it to Rooney. He's the only captain-type player who can 100% be guaranteed his place. No point in giving it to Parker/Ferdinand/Lampard/Gerrard when you can't be sure they'll start games. The fact he's a hot-head and won't be available for the first 2 games at the Euros means he probably won't get it.
