Don't "support" an English team because I was born and brought up in Scotland. It used to boil my piss when people fawned over the Premiership after manufacturing some kid-on affiliation for whichever team they chose to "support". But it's really not important, f**k 'em and leave 'em to it.

Since moving to Teesside I've been geeking out on the Northern and Wearside Leagues for my fix, sampling the fare at Marske United and Redcar Athletic and following competitions like the North Riding Senior Cup and Wearside League Cup. Never more than a fiver to get in and the Bovril's always top notch, what more do you want from the football?

My English team are Leeds, but saying I support them would be taking it a bit far. I care so little about them that it's hardly worth mentioning. I don't even watch them on the Football League show as it's on past my bedtime. I like watching decent games on Match of the Day and don't really give a shit who is involved as long as it's a good game and there are plenty of goals.

Rovers and Scotland are the only teams I make an effort to watch and support.

Life is good.

My thoughts exactly. Replace the names of any of these teams with "Celtic" or "Rangers" and you're looking at exactly the same tenuous reasons that old firm "supporters" from places like Inverness or Hawick give.

True enough.

Sunderland for me, since around 1996. Been quite a few times, and was lucky enough to get to Roker Park before it closed. Great wee stadium that was.

They've got a few links with the Albion, and there was even an article about it in one of their publications recently. If the Albion ever went tits up, I'd be pretty much a full time Mackem. I'd maybe even try and persuade the missus to move down that neck of the woods in such an eventuality, but obviously I hope it never comes to that.

I consider Burnley as my English team. My uncle is from Burnley and he used to bring me all sorts of merchandise whenever he was down there. I've been to one game, a pre-season friendly against Partick Thistle. I've always wanted to go to a game down there for a game but a combination of not being able to afford it and being too young.

As I lived in Oldham for a couple of years when I was 3-5 years old, I consider them a team whose results I look out for.
I have seen them once, a defeat from Aston Villa in the FA Cup, but I still feel an affinity with the "Latics".

However, Mon the Rovers.

People on Facebook who have their middle name listed as the initials of their favourite English team are worse than Pol Pot. It's a good way of immediately spotting who is a total thicko though.

this thread will be full of hypocrytes no doubt (havent bothered to read it yet)

the kind who claim its fine to have an 2nd team

but find it an outrage that rangers & celtic fans have a 2nd team

the only time ill ever stick up for them

Having anything that isn't your actual name on facebook is a crime that should be punishable by death. There's this one guy on mine who's name is or was "Creami Goodness", yeah he's a fat b*****d but that's taking it a bit far!

edit: it seems to only be "supporters" of big teams, is it that smaller team fans are ashamed or not c***s?

And that was not a good start, losing the Doctor at this stage of the game is pretty catastrophic, the Mafia will be creaming themselves after that kill. Particularly when the Doctor is as skilful a player as Forehead is.

I spent quite a bit of my childhood living in Manchester and had been to Old Trafford before I even knew Dunfermline existed. I've only been to one game since I moved up here and that was probably 7 or 8 years ago. Now I genuinely couldn't care less about them.

I like watching English football but feel absolutely no attachment to any club.

I'd like to think if/when I leave Dunfermline it wouldn't be a similar outcome. I reckon the ups and downs I've experienced while following the Pars has probably formed a stronger bond than anything I felt for Man Utd.

I like the Arsenal also, and have done since about 2002/03 when I was about 9. One of my friends started supported them at the same time, which was good. Had numerous replica shirts and kits and bits and bobs since then, although all of tops are now too small other than the lovely burgandy/black striped top with gold trimming 3rd kit from a few years ago. Seen them twice, although 1 was a friendly at Celtic Park. The other was a shite draw against Boro.

Would never call them we, join a forum to speak about them or get emotional after any result, but I do like the Arsenal. They're the source of a lot of good childhood memories.

Had this belter as my first football strip. Ljungberg 8 soon followed on the back. Posted Image

edited to add that I couldn't give a f**k who supported what English team or reasons for doing so. You tend to find those who do are total c***s.

Of course I do? It may be suprising for you to learn that I was quite fond of the man and I enjoyed going down to Newcastle to see my family. They were all Newcastle Utd supporters and therefore, I became one too. It's much the same as the reason I'm a Dundee supporter. It's in the blood.

The only English team I really look out for is Preston. I have a lot of family down there. But since Falkirk are looking to get into the EPL via Huddersfield I suppose ill need to start supporting them

I had English teams tops as i grew up but i cant say i ever supported them.

Leeds, Blackburn, Liverpool, Man Utd, Swindon.

For years if people asked who was my team i said Wimbledon, for 'the dons'. But that was just tongue and cheek.

Aberdeen and Scotland will do me.
aye aye, wheres the pie?

In the time it took you to read this, John Hewitt had already scored the Scottish Cup's fastest goal.

I hate Newcastle and hope they lose every game for that reason alone.

Was at a mates birthday thing in Manchester a few weeks ago and amongst the crowd was an Edinburgh yooni type who 'supports' Newcastle and also one of my best uni mates who is a genuine Newcastle fan from the toon.

The posh lad was saying he would rather Newcastle came 5th this year than win a domestic cup. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image
That's the kind of retards from up here who look out for Newcastle results.

If I moved somewhere, I would likely need my football fix and after going to watch a team for a while, would maybe call an English club 'my team.' Don't understand anyone have a strong affinity to a team miles away they never see live though. I have soft spots for 1 or 2 clubs like West Ham and Everton. I also look out for certain teams results on account of friends from the area, such as the aforementioned geordie mate and Leicester City. Would never say I support any of these teams though.

Apart from anything, all the big teams in England (especially United, Spurs and Liverpool) are undeniably cuntish in nature. Don't see how anyone could find affection for any of them.

I hate people who call Arsenal "the Arsenal"

Also the fact that all you see in sports shops are English team replica tops.

I'm a Middlesbrough fan more than an Ayr fan. Go to a lot more Boro games than Ayr games and it's a lot more entertaining.

And calling them THE arsenal is as good as calling them we.

Don't support them as such but look out for Bolton's results at the weekend because of the legend that is Owen Coyle. Mind you whatever English team he would manage I would look out for their results.

You are aware they were once officially titled "The Arsenal", yes?

I think it's safe to say you can be recorded in the Big Black Book of Idiotic Kickback Exiles. I think I'll pencil you in beside Zeus.
