Two people.

Person 1 claims to be a Rangers fan, who's second team is Raith Rovers, ie his 'wee team', Never been to Starks in their life apart from the odd pre-season game or 'title decider'

Person 2 is a Raith Rovers fan who also happens to support Wolves. Gets to two or three games at Molineux a season, generally loves the club, but is a season ticket holder at Starks Park and never misses a home game there.

Aye, exactly the fucking same.

(continuiing your example)

in my experience most people who "support" wolves have yet to find their way to see them ever, but will happily watch them on the telly

you of course get some who do go and watch wolves, just like you do get some rangers fans at starks park at some point in the season (rangers playing excluded)
but on the main there are more "person 1's" out there than there are "person 2's"
If the kids are united then we'll never be divided

Aldershot town. because my dad was in the army. Went from 1987 onwards. Wouldn't say they are my second team. I get As happy/annoyed whether both win lose or draw. I watch Celtic more because I live in Scotland. Aldershot have a different level of expectation to Celtic. Atfc are happy to stay in league and be competitive with the occasional cup run where as Celtic need to be competing for trophies.

Aldershot Town should be happy to be in existence, never mind the odd cup run. Bearing in mind that Aldershot FC went bus in 1992, and Aldershot Town only came into existence after then, it is a minor miracle that they are still in business.

My wife from Reading, so when visiting the inlaws will go and watch them. Although now they are not in the premier league I don't really bother

That is quite sad. In their entire history (141 years, 92 in the football league) Reading have spent 2 seasons in the English top league, both of which have been in the last 6 years. It's sad that when they inevitably get relegated so many people desert them.

I support Motherwell and Scotland. If I lived down south I'd probably go along and watch the local team but I don't so I don't.

I will tune into Match of the Day and I follow the lower league results and form since I put a coupon on (lot of good that does me!) but as for any emotional attachments it can only be one club, one country.

This pretty much sums up my feelings. I have a loose attachment to Everton, and while I occasionally profess an intention to, I've never been to Goodison to watch them. I do like to see them do well, I know who their upcoming fixtures are, and they'd be the first Premiership result I'd look out - but that would really be the extent of it.

I have a similar malcontent to people who go a bit over the top about how much they love Manchester United/Chelsea/Liverpool etc. It's a bit cringey, but nothing in comparison to an ever growing number of people who seem to be die-hard Real Madrid/Barcelona supporters - despite being from rural fucking Ayrshire....

Started to follow York City when my favourite player at Hearts, Peter Oliver, was transferred to them. That was back in '74.
Since then I've been to a 100 games approx and sponsored a match ball on one occasion. Certainly not been for glory-hunting reasons.
Over the years I've gained some good friends down there and still look for news on a daily basis.

Look out for Stoke City's results and have a soft spot for them after stangely being given their strip when I was about 9 years old. Only been to one game and it was a 3-2 defeat to Cambridge United in 2001. Would like to go back to a game and have a night out in Stoke one day.

My 'actual' other team is RC Strasbourg as I have family who support them and from there. They have fallen some way over the last few years though.

Dot see the point in 'having' an English team unless you have some obvious ties. There's many teams I look out for, Leeds and Torquay being two, I've seen both teams play a few times but when someone asks me who my English team is I still say I don't have one.

It annoys the shit out of me people that go on about Liverpool, always Celtic fans, Man Utd or City and say 'we' when talking about them. I don't know why people have to have an English team. I enjoy watching the games but don't need to support a team.

Don't get me started on that.

i've hardly been on facebook since the last real/Barca game.

What a clusterfuck that was, daft rangers fans banging on about king's 11 and daft celtic fans going on about eta and barca rebels.

Fannies the lot of them.

I worked with an Espanyol fan last summer (from Barcelona, not rural Ayrshire) and his view on Barca was quite interesting. Both him and his sister were absolutely adamant that the whole story about Barcelona being the Catalan people's club is total nonsense, and that Espanyol were the first pro-Catalan team. I CBA looking that up, but I'm just going to assume it's true because I despise Barcelona.

I think Espanyol were set up as a reaction to Barcelona being formed by and dominated by non-Catalans. It was intended for Spaniards rather than just Catalans, hence the name.

Mine is Aston Villa.

Went on holiday to Southport in 1980 with my parents and the hotel we were staying in was the local of the parents of Jimmy Rimmer who was Villa goalie at the time and my parents became friendly with them.

They gave me lots of Villa memorabilia and got me a signed programme from a Liverpool v Villa game autographed by both teams.

Always had a soft spot for them ever since.

I "follow" Leeds as my mother is from there. But as I usually visit in the summer I've been to Headingly more than I've been to Elland Rd. Including one ashes match that was postponed due to rain. The steward was very sympathetic when he heard my dads accent and asked what time we had set out at. "half an our ago we walked over from Woodhouse" How we laughed.

I like Everton. I went to a game with Fudge many years back now and loved the whole atmosphere around the place - and, adding in the Scottish connections that they had (and still have) I like them. Usually get to a few games a season.

But Dunfermline are the number one - always will be.
For we're the Pars, Dunfermline Athletic,
And now we are on song,
For we're the Pars, Dunfermline Athletic,
And we'll go marching on.

To be honest, I never had a proper night out there as when I stayed there I only knew my girlfriend and her family. The place is full of idiots though. I've been to about a dozen Stoke games and at times I feel as if I'm surrounded by the cast of This is England. Some of the pubs look rough as f**k, but then again they also have a Reflex, so I'm sure you'd be able to find somewhere in the middle that would be decent.
