What's your thoughts on having an English team as your second team and do you have on yourself?

Personally, it's Dunfermline and only Dunfermline for me(no rangers jibes please)

I live in England and I don't have an English team I have been to random matches involving various sides. But for me the rovers are my team and I get pissed off with them let alone taking on another mob that will only frustrate me. I don't understand having more than one team

I have a soft spot for West Ham United.

Decision making isn't my strong point.

My English team are Shrewsbury, for no properly explained reason. Been to three games and don't really bother with them much now, couldn't tell who plays for them actually.

Caldwell is actually a great centre half however consistency can be an issue for him, technically his distribution of the ball for a defender is as good as Pique or Puyol.

I don't have a specific English team, but take in games when I am there, depending on location.

This weekend I think I'm off to either Charlton - Rochdale or Gillingham - Hereford, don't have an affiliation with any of those teams though.

In the past (at various times) I've seen Barnet, Orient, Fulham, Brentford, Swansea, Newport County and Carlisle on a regular-ish basis; wouldn't really class myself as seriously "supporting" any of these teams though.

If folk have the space in their lives to support an English as well as a Scottish team I don't really see the harm in it.

I have supported Leeds United longer than i have supported Forfar Athletic.

Didnt start supporting the loons till we moved to forfar and had already been supporting leeds for a good few years before that.

Grandad was from Newcastle and used to have a season ticket there before he moved up here, so I've always had them as my English team. Doesn't really bother me what happens to them though, so whilst they are my "English team", I don't actually care about them. Then again I suppose it doesn't really bother me what happens to Thistle these days either. So apathetic towards everything to do with football right now.

When I was younger, I liked Portsmouth purely for Benjani. My mum bought me a Pompey top with Benjani on the back of it for Christmas. 2 months later and he left for Man City. Posted Image

That's when my love of Portsmouth and Benjani stopped.

StMirren over anyone else ( even Scotland )

I like Leeds but i'd never say i'm a fan or supporter because i feel that disrespects the ones that actually goes to the games.

When i'm earning more money and Saints arent playing i'd be tempted to go down for a game/night out but i would never have the same attachement as i do with StMirren.

You can only love 1 team imo.

I am a supporter of both St Johnstone and Everton.

St Johnstone will always be my first team because I was born and raised in Perth, but I also have strong feelings for the Toffees as well. I've been to 4 games and try to make a game a season. I do accept that I will never be a "true supporter" of Everton because I wasn't raised to be one.

I don't really mind people having an English team as long as they support their local Scottish team.

In the last 5 or 6 years, I've followed Clydebank most places. There are a few in the bankies support, myself included who go down to Cardiff to watch them, usually 2 or 3 times a season. Good for a weekend on the booze and the banter with the Welsh guys we know is top notch. Wouldn't get away with calling them an English team though...

I "support" Nottingham Forest as an English team (to whatever extent you can actually call it "support" when I've actually been to a game about five times).

In fact my support for Forest significantly pre-dates my support for Queen of the South although it would obviously be Queens first and foremost now. I've followed Forest since 1977 when they were the only side giving Liverpool a run for their money down South and most of my pals supported Liverpool. We only got English tv in Dumfries back then, not BBC Scotland, so Scottish coverage was limited. It would have been two or three years later before I was really conscious there even was a team in Dumfries and it was 1985 before I started going regularly. My dad worked Saturdays so I was never taken to football at an early age.

My own children will be indoctrinated much earlier! :D

I followed Newcastle before Berwick really. Love both clubs.

After moving to Nottingham I found it hard to care much about Forest or County, but then my girlfriend (before she was my girlfriend) asked me to go see Stoke vs Man United with her and now my English team are Stoke.

I like Chelsea and Dundee. And I prefer Rangers to Celtic. My life is just one giant mess in regards to football. Posted Image

edit: I don't just like Dundee, I support them. I don't support Chelsea and I most certainly don't support or even like Rangers.

Thistle are my true love. But in England its Ipswich, thanks to my English mate. Seen them 4 times in past 2 seasons. 2 wins and 2 defeats.Including 5-1 thrashing at home to Norwich :(

Don't support any English team. But I do follow the English teams with a strong Scottish connection particularly Liverpool and Cardiff. Have kind of always taken an interest in Liverpool because of Dalglish and Souness in particular. Cardiff is a more recent one but they have had quite a few Scots in the team over the past few seasons and its good to see how they get on. I would like to see Cardiff get promotion to the Premier League as they have narrowly missed out the past few seasons, must be a bugger for their support to see Swansea in the EPL and not them.

Also I tend to watch Arsenal quite a lot just because of their style of play, though this season and last I have found them less and less enjoyable to watch, not just because of bad results but because with players leaving, injuries and Arshavin being rotten now they just don't play the same level of football any more, not consistently anyway.

Aldershot town. because my dad was in the army. Went from 1987 onwards. Wouldn't say they are my second team. I get As happy/annoyed whether both win lose or draw. I watch Celtic more because I live in Scotland. Aldershot have a different level of expectation to Celtic. Atfc are happy to stay in league and be competitive with the occasional cup run where as Celtic need to be competing for trophies.

Sunderland for me, we've moved onto 2nd teams being European rather than English though.

Anyway, I wouldn't call myself a Leeds United fan, never been to Elland Road and have no great desire to, but I do look out for their results and hope they get promoted.

I have family living outside Stevenage so I'd pick them tbh. I look out for their scores at the weekends and normally have them on my coupon.

People who claim to "support" English teams. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

It is the dumbest thing ever and it's so cringey when people put pretend messages of support on Facebook. Posted Image

Hearts and Hibs fans who "support" Man Utd etc but have never been to Old Trafford, it's just like gloryhunting tools up here who say they support Celtic or Rangers but never go to games, but buy their merchandise and give them more money to help dominate their respective league. Posted Image

I've hoped Spurs would do well this season because Hearts played them in Europe and it would be nice to see a team other than Man Utd winning the Premiership or Man City who will just buy it in the seasons to come, but I wouldn't claim to support them or chat shite about it either. Posted Image
