If you didn't want to stir the pot, why raise the topic in the first place ?

:o

After Stonehouse, naebody wants another South Lanarkshire team going under, it's an awareness thing, who isn't struggling at this level? So, stop being a big time Charlie and get real, the topic is valid.

Only reply if you've got something positive to say.

Fair enough, I just found the approach of the OP to be curious, but maybe I'm doing him a dis-service.

I don't understand the "big time Charlie" bit, but hey.....

You are - i didn't want to be accused of gloating over our fiercest rivals alleged problems & thought it was the best way to get it brought to a head.Which it has but it's still as clear as mud.
Form is temporary - class is permanent.

We're getting the usual stories here over amateurs getting paid being widespread if not rife in the Junior game. Whether thats true or false - what's the particular incentive to sign someone on amateur terms, them pay them illicitly?

The simple answer to that Hibee is that it depends on how good the player is.
Players are now getting wise to the compensation rule and guys are becoming more reluctant to sign professional forms but are still looking for the pay packet that goes with the status. Unfortunately there are still clubs more than willing to pay the going rate.
And its a fallacy that being Amateur makes it easier to change clubs mid season because clubs still ask for transfer fees in the guise of "we're only asking back what we've paid him in expenses".

You dont have any dealings with HMRC being an obvious incentive.
In my day it was daft to sign pro-forms for another reason. Getting reinstated to amateur required you to be 96 years old or in a wheelchair.
Therefore long before HMRCs involvement players used to enjoy their annual large, and monthly smaller brown envelopes (Full of expenses you know).

A certain East region current manager who I played with used to have at least £50 spendies for Fat Sams on a saturday night in Dundee and that was 20 years ago ;)
I on the other hand needed to buy whatever muck was past its sell by date and on offer at 50p a bottle.

There was also the genuine case of the player who lived next door to his team's park but claimed expenses from 40 miles away...

8) No problem big man, just got a wee bit narked at your comment, as did the Dosser fellay. Of course your entitled tae yer opinion, the BTC comment was aimed at the old city boys (Glasgow) thinking they're way above us country boys, of course you guys are Ru'Glen, no Glesgae, so I've got it wrong in the heat of the moment.

In danger ay P&B becoming a big love-in!!

Yes you are, very much so.
Do you honestly believe that Sean Winter reinstated Amateur is travelling all over Scotland with Stranraer, for the 'Love of the game'?Anyhow heard unofficially moves on retention will be introduced hopefully they toss out the various forms of registration and do as the whole of the rest of the foiotball world does, sign on as a football player for a club, if you are offered professional basis then a contract is drawn up and agreed.
It's really as simple as that but Scotland just loves the complicated way.
