Alloa's opener was a howling goal from a QP perspective with Parry and Gallacher guilty of trying to overplay in their own penalty area when a simple hump up the park would have sufficed. Their second was a well worked counter attack but the original shot appeared to be going wide before Ricky Little's despairing slide tackle sent the ball into the net. Bain made an absolutely top drawer save from a deflected Meggatt free kick just before that as well, so things could have been very different at half time.
Second half I thought we played some very good football but we lacked an urgency in the final third. Barring drives from range from Meggatt (another top save from Bain) and McBride we didn't create anything clear cut until we introduced Ronald and Daly to the game. Ronald was excellent on the right, and the Alloa full back who had successfully kept tabs on Ian Watt all day was struggling to contain him for the short time he was on the park.
Daly scored an excellent goal after a one-two with Longworth with a few minutes to go but despite piling on the pressure towards the end we didn't manage to fashion out the big chance we needed to get the point.
Felt as if we deserved a share of the spoils but fair play to Alloa, they are a good side who play some good football. An excellent defensive unit as well, Longworth didn't get a sniff until the last 20 minutes.

I thought that was the key moment of the game. Bain also had a very good save from the QP right winger before that.
Fair summary, mate. Queens are a good side, but we are looking more and more like the best team in the league.

Andyboy’s post sums it all up really
We were doing well until a moment of lunacy at the back and their second was yet another goal on the break – 3 games in a row against them that’s happened. Second half we did OK and scored a lovely goal but Alloa already had the game in the bag by then. They are an excellent side when on the attack and their defence is rock solid. Rest of us playing for the play offs now

I liked Hartley when he played for Scotland, but the guy's been like a basket case at the side of the park in the last couple of QP / Alloa games. What was he doing getting involved when Davie Anderson was caught late on the touchline? It was the worst foul of the game and if he saw it, he should have shut up. If he didn't see it, he should still have shut up. Quite apart from raging like a loon towards the QP bench, he was going mental at the linesman. Strange, as the guy hadn't signalled for anything.
Despite the defeat, we still look good for the play-offs.
Can't see Alloa self-destructing as Third Division leaders in recent years have done.

I didn't see what happened, although people are saying Ryan McCord was involved.
I did see Hartley finger pointing at one of the Queen's management team. Then he went back to the stand; I thought he had been sent there, but I think he just went to cool off.

Seven wins in a row and no losses since October is the form of champions but Queen's have done quite well against Alloa this season. The difference between the sides really has been calibre of player. Having Armand One in the stands and Robbie Winters on the bench says it all really. That is a depth in quality we simply don't have (neither do Stranraer or Annan).
The relegation pop was really one in reference to who you will lose at the end of the season, perhaps even your manager. There are a number of players who could play at a higher level (McKinnon, Doyle and McCord look really good).
Hartley was an intimidating presence on the touchline on Saturday. There's nothing against the rules for that but I thought the referee would have sent him to the stand after his ridiculous reaction to the bad foul on Anderson. He bullied the assistant for much of the game and it was no surprise to see that same assistant run up the tunnel immediately after the whistle.

Can't agree. There's a lot of football still to be played. We will almost certainly have a shaky spell. After the pain of two years ago when we lost out on the championship by one goal after having a similar lead no Alloa fan is going to assume.
Obviously delighted with the position.

Fair comment.

And you can add Cawley and the goalie to that I think. McCord in particular should be playing full time football.
Clearly Hartley isn't there for the long term but I do believe he will stay another year to have a go at back to back promotions. He'll be learning a lot at the club.
Of course if a big offer comes in.......

I thought we played quite well on Saturday, and on another day we probably would have got a point given some of our chances (Meggat's free kick, his 30 yard drive, McBride's long range effort). But Alloa are a very good side and, like Convenor mentioned, we have struggled to cope with the speed at which they counter attack and despite Little eventually turning the ball into his own net, you couldn't help but admire Alloa's build up play for their second. Daly was excellent when he came on, and deserved his cracking goal.
I think it might be time to put Longworth further forward. He does some nice things in the role he's in just now but i don't think we're getting the best out of him. At times on Saturday the game seemed to pass him by and he's too good a player to allow that to happen. We know how lethal he can be when in the right areas.
No doubt the players are gutted, but we are playing well and have a run of games coming up which we should be looking at getting full points from.

Not getting carried away or anything but there is a BIG difference from 2 seasons back, we have all played about the same number games this season unlike "That" season when Stirling had about 4 games in hand on us when we cracked
If we can keep this run going for another couple of weeks and other results go our way, i think we will have it in the bag (Touch wood)

Shocking defending , if you could call it that
Moral of the story?
Don't tippy tappy around your own penalty area with a player in the class of Stevie May in the opposition side prepared to sprint down your full backs and pressurise your keeper whenever there is a loose pass played in the box.

It was actually our centre half and you shouldn't really be fucking around with it in front of any player but I take your point
