CELTIC are seeking a court order that could see a yob fan go to JAIL if he defies a ban on attending matches.
Hoops bosses want an injunction to reinforce the move against Ross Connolly, 29 — blamed for the 'F*** UEFA' banner at a match in Italy last year.

Connolly, of Giffnock, Glasgow, was arrested during the Europa League tie against Udinese for allegedly assaulting a steward. It's believed Celtic are the first Scots club to pursue a legal route to keep a fan away.

A source said: "Clubs can ban people from their ground but, if they manage to sneak in, all the club can do is eject them.

"An injunction is a far more robust measure."

A breach of a Court of Session order would be contempt of court — with sanctions including civil imprisonment. A Celtic spokesman said: "We are rightly taking steps to prohibit this individual from attending matches."

The club faces a large fine over the banner :D .

UEFA will hear the case on February 24.

Last night Connolly's mum Anne called Celtic's move "unwarranted and no fair".

How often will Celtic peddle this Juan Ghuy line and how long will the Scottish media pander to them?

Maybe they'll try and spin it out as long as the 'small minority' line of those who rioted and looted manchester in 2008?
First ever small minority ive ever seen that amassed SEVERAL thousand !
Glasgow Rangers = Scotlands shame

Correct me if im wrong but the guy lifted was the one who unfurled the banner, he also by all accounts planted one on a steward, celtic have banned him for life, this one guy! And your point is?
Should they perhaps ban anyone within a 50 yard radius of him as they were obviously all in on it and encouraged him to smack that steward !!!!!
I watched the game 2000 miles away at home in stirling, should i have been huckled for my part in it?

This 67 chump believes the spin that it was only Juan Ghuy holding up two banners both around 20ft long

If Celtic were serious then they'd ban every fan who took part in the display.

This whole thread is basically a case of 'whateaboutery' (well done by the way a new word you just invented like 'bouncebackability'"
Rangers are in turmoil, financial meltdown etc so lets start a thread skating celtic for only banning the one guy arrested & charged in udinese !!

So Celtic are punishing a fan for a banner he created and this tube is unhappy with that?

I would have imagined you had more pressing concerns

To be fair, the fact that you started this thread, and bumped that Celtic View one, suggest you're indulging in a spot of deflector shields yourself.

I'm no fan of whataboutery. Too taxing.
I [agree/disagree] with your assessment because you [praised/insulted] a [team/person] that I [support/loathe]. Furthermore, I [admire/ridicule] your writing based on the previous statement, and not on the merit of what was actually written.
