Has there been many kicking about the first division? Noticed on twitter last night Andy Rodgers, Dean Keenan and Scott McGlaughlin all having a pop at Reid, Rodgers in particular, and not the first Ayr incident recently, with him having a go at Stevenson when fans were getting excited on twitter about a possible return. It's clear he bears a grudge with being binned in the summer when we were promoted, and Keenan just being realesed after all the injuries. (was never good enough at this level anyway)

Was just interested to know of any other stories regarding players leaving.

I like Andy Rodgers, he's a good lad. What did he say about Stevenson, out of interest? Was it anything to do with stories surrounding his return being pie in the sky?

The Stevenson comments were about why Ayr fans would welcome back a player who had walked out on Hearts after all the financial troubles. It was understandable he didn't want to play, I read his bit in the paper after his switch to Ipswich, and he was only paid on time 4 times in his 2 years at Hearts, which his pretty understandable for going on strike. I did like Rodgers when he was at Ayr, but his tweets and comments haven't gone unoticed by a few fans online.

Steve Hislop kind of dislikes Alex Smith, but I suspect he's not alone in that.

Gordon Dalziel is the only one I can really think of. He's vowed to never return to Stark's Park due to his treatment from the board, apparently wasn't allowed to come back to clear his desk. Legendary striker, pish manager mind.

It seems Stevenson can do no wrong where Ayr fans are concerned. Fair enough, the guy wasn't paid on time and I wouldn't be too happy if I was in that situation, but he appeared to be the only one who went bleating to the press about it in an attempt to force the club's hand, despite the efforts of the PFA behind the scenes. Additionally, he made those ridiculous comments about his car.

In saying that, I don't agree with players slagging off fellow professionals on Twitter.

Just had a look at Rodger's Twitter page and noticed comments along the line of "good luck to the Honest Men" prior to Saturday's semi final and "1st semi went to the bad guys" following it.

Now, I don't know whether that's down to the 1997 Scottish Cup final, but it suggests to me there's no ill will towards Ayr on his behalf. Brian Reid's obviously a different story, but is he saying anything different to the Ayr fans and their various 'insiders'? No.

Rodgers has been released from a few clubs and doesn't seem the type to bear a grudge, so something about Reid clearly grinds his gears. A bit unfair to highlight him on this thread, I'd suggest.

I liked Keenan, but he didn't play for around 18 months or more due to a horrible injury. Ayr Utd stood by him during that time. His contact was up and it would have been a big gamble to keep him and there is only so long a part time club like Ayr Utd can keep paying players who don't play. As for Rodgers I thought he struggled during games in the 2nd and was not good enough for the 1st Division, so you can't blame Brian Reid for that one. I don't really know what happened with Scott McGlaughlin, I would have been happy to have him at Ayr, but I heard he was wanting full-time football and with Ayr staying part time this year he decided to leave the club.

What about Mortons Marc Smyth? I think he had a few bad words when he left Ayr Utd.

It wasn't towards Ayr I was reffering, as I said, it was Reid he had digs at, along with the two others mentioned, both also realesed by Reid. Like you said, on a social network site isn't the best place to air it, especially when fans of the team are follwoing him etc.

Sorry, with your reference to "Ayr incidents" I thought you were suggesting he had an issue with the club rather than Reid as an individual.

Last season appears to have been Rodgers poorest in terms of his goal return since leaving Falkirk. He's surpassed that tally already and we're only in February. True, I don't think anyone's suggesting he's First Division material, but perhaps his form last season can be blamed on Ried and the tactics he employs, something which is obviously a point of contention among your own fans.

If Smyth got full time football he'd be back at Ayr in a flash.

It's no surprise a lot of players have ill feelings towards Reid, it's pretty obvious that the guys only play for the Ayr jersey when they feel like it.

The sooner he's off the better IMHO.

Yeah, given he referes to him as 'Brian 'fuckin' Reid' I'm guessing he doesn't agree with the excessive use of industrial language as a means of motivation.

So, can we draw the following conclusion from this exchange:

Andy Rodgers: good guy

Brian Reid: w**k

rodgers was great when played wide instead of striker, had we kept him and played moffat uptop this year (since reid demands to have at least 1 striker on the wing) i think we would have got a few more points

but then again he was largely 3rd choice for much of last season except the period between McKay being found out and Moffat arriving

Do you really hate the County Stuart Taylor? :(

Hately motivated the opposition, simply by being Mark Hately, far more than he and Cooper could motivate us. While our players seemed to slump, 2 games and 2 losses! Really didnt work out for either side!

Andy Walker seemed to have it in for us while he was doing Football First / Scotsport. We had him on loan the season we went down under Jocky Scott and we probably made the mistake of telling him he was pish. He was just too old and half-arsed really - not ideal fighting relegation. Maybe we just got landed with him when his remaining ability couldn't match his ego. Rather than admit that to himself, he decided we were arseholes. You're a sad wee pishbag Andy Walker, up ye!

edit to add 'a' - lol@me :1eye
