University football... in which 3 EOS teams participate, of course... isn't an aspect which ever draws much attention on here: but today was First Round day in the British University Cup (officially: "BUCS Mens Football Championship"), and all 3 were participating courtesy of their high league finishes last season.

Stirling host Heriot-Watt in a Scottish derby, the winner hosting Brighton or London St Mary's in R2.

Edinburgh travel to Northumbria, for a trip to Leeds or Hartpury West of England in R2.

Being afternoon KOs... anyone know the scores?

How do people rate the EOS club chances of reaching the Final, as Edinburgh did last season?

Congratulations to Stirling... BUCS website says Brighton 4-3 London St Mary's so they'll host the south-coasters in 3 weeks time. Stirling could in theory still have 36 games to play this season, btw!!

Gutting for Edinburgh.

Northumbria are decent, currently 2nd-top of the BUCS Premier.

Stirling not happy at blowing £X00 on return flight tickets, to be told last night the game was off.

Club thought Loughborough would play on the artificial pitch. Some horrible hearsay on why Loughborough bodyswerved this, but, bottom line, not a bunch of happy campers at Stirling today!

Oh, are students exempt from paying VAT nowadays. Damn, wish it had been like that in my day.

LOL, bit over your head, dear boy? IIRC Supporter suggested students don't pay tax. VAT is a tax. Students pay VAT. Therefore students pay tax. Therefore Supporter's post was a bit off the mark. Feel free to keep digging.

Edited to reflect original poster was Supporter!

VAT is a sales tax...

NOT based on income.

Keep digging...

Check back to Supporter's post to see if he/she specifed what kind of taxes he/she was accusing students of not paying, then come back here and apologise.

Having checked back, I am not sure why you are arguing anyway, you didn't even make the orginal accusation...

Snap, that's why I deleted my last post, it was a waste of time...but thanks for your confidence that with the pyramid system in place that HRA will rise up to the giddy heights of playing Stiriling Albion! Or are you thinking perhaps that the Albion will be going down the way instead?

Ehhh. My avatar is only cos i could'nt work out how to make it Stirling Uni.

But hey, I really wish HRA every success, and do genuinely want to see a real pyramid system which will flush out a lot of these poorer SFL deadwood.

I don't wish that for Stirling Albion, because I still have a soft spot.

Best wishes mancini.

Yeah, I was just joshing, but you should email P&B and get your club added to the menu. Stirling Uni were excellent when they came down in the summer, glad we don't have to play you very often, ta for kind words.
