what do you remember of the old port glasgow one wintonfan?

My own abiding memory was that I was about 13 or 14 and Petershill were down for a midweek game, and it was the first social club I had ever seen that had a wide selection of fortified wines on the gantry. :D

quite a basic ground, 3 steps of terrace with a bit of cover on the motorway side, few steps on the other side, dressing rooms and social club behind the goals, club was a bit rough iirc, few training lights at the social club end
opinions are my own and not those of any organisation i many be involved with

Only followed Bonnyrigg this season and have been to Musselburgh,Bathgate,Boness,Nitten, and in the past been to Lithgae and Pollok when i used to go to Spartans senior games, missed a few through games being off and hopefully take in Glenrothes at the weekend and Ashfield in the Scottish the next week, not got a favorite and and as long as there's a shed to get out the pissin rain that does me,Lithgae have a good social club on the go and look forward to the away tie there soon as well as a few of the other grounds, must admit i'm enjoying the juniors this season.

Just out of sheer boredom I thought I would list the "defunct" junior grounds I have played at.
Dundee St Josephs (fairfield),
Scone Thistle (Robert Douglas Memorial),
North Fife (Waterstone Crook),
Forfar West End (Strathmore Park),
Dundee Stobswell (East End Park),
Arbroath SC (Seaton Park),
Balbeggie (Renfield Park)
Jeanfield Swifts (Simpson Park)
Carnoustie (Cant remember name)
Quite scary how many creep up.
The games at Waterstone Crook which still exists involved Newport & Wormit amateurs and the games at East End Park which is no, more involved NCR Amateurs
St James AFC now play at Fairfield.

When did Royal Albert move to current ground?

I was counting their ground as a current one I had visited, was there in 1981.

Was this their current ground?

Royal Albert played at Robert Smillie Park, basically a public park for many years, funnily enough it was one I never got to. The old park I was referring to was a big old stadium with a big wooden stand and a dog track around it. I don't know what it was called but I reckon they vacated it in late 1950's or at very latest, early 60's. I was only there once and it was a West of Scotland cup third round tie on 27th April 1957. Result 5-1 Kilsyth, scorers Alex Querrie 2; David Campbell 2; Bobby Bryans 1.
Bobby Bryans went to Aberdeen but failed to break through to the first team, Graham Leggat was the man in possesion of the right wing position at that time, a Scotland international and not likely to be displaced. He moved on to various second division clubs. I met him quite recently at Cumbernauld Probus and he still looks very well

On the left wing for Aberdeen at the same time was George Mulhall, another ex-Kilsyth player, went on to Sunderland and got several Scottish caps, should have had more but Davie Wilson of Rangers was the selectors man and again, not likely to be passed over, he went on to manage several English league clubs, ended up at Halifax and was managing until a few years ago as the oldest manager in England.

I remember those games well. Won the game against Violet but lost the two against the pace - am I right? I ended up with Iain King (now of the Sun) as a passenger to one of those games.

I know this thread has pretty well ran its course but to original Royal Albert ground I referred to was Raploch Park. They were definitely still there in 1959 according to Evening Citizen junior handbook of that year. Anyone else remember being there, or Carronbank (Dunipace) for that matter?
A cracking little venue with a great atmosphere

When did Jeanfield Swifts move?

Was at their park in 1997, was this the old 1.

If it was take their excellent social club was lost at same time?
