Yeh the radio was good today.
"ST MIRREN have adopted a new image. The Paisley side resemble the kid at school who returned from the summer holidays with a new school bag and a sun tan that refused to subside."

From what I've read and heard recently, many football clubs have this arrangement with Ticketus. Does anyone know if the majority of senior Scottish clubs have the same arrangement? What about the likes of Motherwell, Aberdeen, St Mirren, Falkirk, Forfar, Brechin City etc etc?

What kind of company is Ticketus? Are they like a Credit Union which exists as a non profit making entity to help clubs or is there something in it for them? Craig Whyte has raised issues which have implications for many sets of fans.

I think only the larger clubs use this company. I've not looked into it in any great depth, but i think they provide finance against a certain number of ticket sales. The Record allegation was that Whyte used this to finance the purchase of the club, except whereas most clubs will use a few months worth of ticket sales as a security, Whyte allegedly used 3-4 seasons worth. If true, that's a huge gamble.

I can't see anyone other than the OF using this scheme in Scotland. I think you need to have a pretty high number of season ticket holders to make it work.

Less a credit union, more a payday loan company.

A turd of such epic proportions it has to be released in three installments. The first can stand on its own as a complete adventure. The second links to the first, but has a dark, inconclusive feel generating an air of foreboding and leaving itself wide open for an unknown ending. The final chapter has drama, excitement and moments where you think all is lost. A grand battle is waged where good overcomes evil and peace is restored in your gut.

Google Ticketus and you come up with Principle First - Octopus VCT Investments

and they explain the use of Venture Capital Trusts and use Ticketus as an example - My link

Not sure if I actually want them to die any more, more a sort of lingering irrelevance like today's performance and crowd.

McCoist, for all he's being painted as the 'poor unfortunate' in all this, must take a good deal of responsibility for his own budgetary constraints.

Whyte, in today's Scotland on Sunday, confirms Rangers budgeted on reaching EL Group-stage = £5M...

... defeats to Malmo then lowly Maribor stuffed that.

Exited League Cup in last 16, v Falkirk. Run over.

Exited Scottish Cup in last 16, home to Dundee Utd. Run over.

Turned 14pts league advantage into 4pt defecit by January, eroding any security in budgeting for league victory.

Millions-upon-millions down the spout, basically.

I really don't buy into this "Ally is working to a tight budget." business. He has a playing budget 38 other clubs would love to have. How would he do for example if his budget was cut to say £3m annually?

The one thing that's puzzled me this week, is the reaction of the Rangers support, when they say "we want answers - we know nothing - we're in the dark etc". Because it appears to me that Craig Whyte has been in the media more since May, than David Murray ever was. Whether or not the Rangers supporters believe what he says is a different matter right enough, but to say that they are being told nothing, is arrant nonsense.

Incidentally, I don't know if it's been posted elsewhere, but there was another interview with Craig Whyte in the Scotland on Sunday today. Don't think Tom English gave him an easy ride.

"People come from miles around to watch Rangers."

How about... and here's an idea... instead of travelling from Perth/Dundee/Aberdeen or wherever, they actually support the teams that are a bit closer to home?

Revolutionary, I know.

Anyway, that video is loltacular. Posted Image

If you take his responses at face value, then you get a bit of an insight into what's going on. Rangers have big debts, run at a defecit, and spending their way out of trouble isn't an option. Whyte has put up some of his own money, e.g. in clearing some debt upon purchasing the club, but he wants it to start washing its own face. (His plan is presumably Fergus McCann style... sort things out, then sell it for profit in X years... or he just enjoys the challenge).

It might be lies-n-smokescreens, of course, but it's interesting to read his perspective.

I genuinely had sympathy for the older guy with the Rangers scarf on at the end just because he has probably seen many highs and lows at that club and now its seems like he will be going through the lowest of the low.

Ah well, f**k Rangers!
