The ground is built on old mineworks as far as I know. I don't know if the drainage issues are anything to do with that, but there are problems for sure.
It's a real shame as there are some great guys involved at the Burgh.
If it was built on old mineworks, wouldn't that make drainage less of a problem, not more?
The abandoned mineworks don't affect Keanie Park, but do affect part of the nearby Johnstone Castle housing estate and the residents of nearby Windsor Crescent private housing estate (there was a stink in the newspapers about a decade or more back because it meant the locals were being debarred from getting housing insurance over it).
It's one of the many stories that does the rounds about Keanie Park because it was land given away for free, and thus everyone suspected James Keanie's motives (this is Renfrewshire after all), as the two obvious spots at that time for a new football club would have been Thomas Shanks Park or the old field where Newfield Park was by then buried under. The real catch in the deal was the Burgh Bar Social Club - Keanie got all the money it made and the club never saw a penny except for the occasional "generous donation", all kept rather quiet by the bunnit wringers until it was finally knocked down in the 1990s and the truth came out.

Shame to hear what's happened to them had a good laugh with their fans at the cup final
Yes, and some Whitburn fans didn't...
Remember their fans singing "You're all just sheep shagging b*****ds!" throughout the match at the Whitburn supporters - all beautifully picked up live on STV. Great advert for the Junior game that year. Thank God they lost and never got back in the final again.

They used to have a website RRG but sadly it stopped running a couple of years ago.
It just shows the interest in them really has waned.
They've have a web board that has been in existence for some time

If Geordie's business picks up and he starts having money to throw around like confetti again, you can be sure all the "Ultras" will be back - Ultra-Fickles. I have my doubts as to whether Burgh will survive Geordie Walker's passing unless new people come into them, but nobody wants to join so long as all of the current people are involved - Catch-22. They need a clearout and an injection of new people with cash and ideas aplenty, but who the hell is going to do that in the current economic climate when there's plenty of other Junior clubs out there (and amateurs) with more potential?
