Well i am not long home with the electric fire on 3 bars instead of the normal 2!. A cold day down at the Fairydean was soon forgotten after about 5 minutes as young Hay scored a fantastic acrobatic effort to bless the new pitch in style he took off his top in celebration whilst i sat and said to my mate rather him than me!. Gala started off like a house on fire adapting to the new surface and after a nice build up involving Tyson Rossi Livingston and Hay finishing with a cool finish from Wilson to send the home side 2-0 up. Preston then began to try and get back into the match and had a decent period before half time scoring from a corner after their big defender bundled it over the line from close range. Half time came at just the right time for the Fairies and it allowed us to take in the new surroundings at netherdale, they find themselves with a fantastic facility and not too bad a side to play on it. The second half opened up a little bit and their were chances either side with both bars taking a beating as well. I may be a little bias but there were chances for livingston rossi and hay that could have put the game well out of sight but it took another finish from hay to settle the game down and Gala advance to play against Ormiston in the next round.

They should be. It is the way to go. Hopefully the Borders will get more. No "Dodgy" call offs on a 3G. Not that clubs ever done that????
It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

Netherdale over the piece will help the young side Gala go forward. I predict within 3 seasons they will gain promotion with the youngish squad they have. Good luck to them.

I took in the game- quite a good crowd for a cold day and with egg-chasing on next door. Gala looked the better team than Preston who perhaps weren't used to the new pitch, although I think Gala might have only trained on it once.
An observation of mine- there seemed to be a lot more players going down injured than if the game was played on grass. The Preston goalie even had to be taken off with a bad injury and subbed, although he was injured in stopping a goal and that might have happened on grass. Perhaps the pitch has to setlle down first and its early days.
Best shout of the day. Ref was Alan Hogg and after not giving a foul a guy shouted "Haw Ref, that was a foul by Number 5 and then he followed through on the player an' all. In fact the way you run you look as if you've followed through as well!"

The Slightly chunky EOSL legend that is Phil Hobbins challenges a Gala player for the ball. Obviously too many noodles and Singapore Slings during his stay in the Far East.....!

Firstly, really good redevelopment - pitchside, floodlights, and the surface itself.

Gala well-deserved their victory, infact the margin should've probably been a couple more. Good crowd, ~150?

Rossi went off Livingston followed and i also seen Gass go down with no one around him the surface may need a bit time to be broken into but as you say a bit alarming hope those boys recover quickly and of course the Preston Goalkeeper who took a real sore one!.
