Shame about Kauto least hes safe. Cheers Rydo but i know what you mean

Novices from this year will be licking their lips at the prospect of next year. Synchronised is a nice enough gutsy horse but today was a bit of a glorified handicap when you look at some of the contenders.

On the Fringe a non runner in 4pm so wasted some pennies on Merchant Royal instead.

I was always suspicious last year's wasn't a great win either, given Denman and Kauto looked over the hill. Long Run was just the best of the rest.

Will give you long odds that any of this field win it next time round.

Long run has been priced up at 12/1 nexy year, far cry from the 2/1 today!
And somewhere in the distance, the gambler he broke even !!

Agree with all of that. Long Run was in the right place last year to take advantage of the old timers. He will be Grand National bound in 2 years when he drops down weights.

2nd year chaser for gold cup next year and right now I would take Sir des Champs to beat any of this years

I'd say Synchronised was more than a gutsy horse.

Top class stayer and jumper.

He was outstanding in the Lexus Chase beating Rubi Light and Quito De La Roque in similar fashion.

Gutsy was meant as a compliment not an insult. Im a huge fan of horses that give their all every race.

I wouldnt say any of the horses he beat in Lexus were top table horses. The Irish challenge for Gold Cup was widely written pff because Synchronised won that race.

Hes a good horse just not a great. Certainly best horse today though and a worthy winner.

Looks like he could travel further and go for the Grand National at Aintree.

I expect stronger challengers next year though so it should be interesting.

6/1 doesn't appeal to me for the same outcome next year though.

Hes a great national horse. Proven by his efforts in the smaller ones he has ran in so far. He will stay alll day and is a superbly consistent jumper of a fence.

As you have said though he holds no appeal as a gold cup bet for next year.

Big day for the bookies today...

Always looked a tough day for punters, but the Gold Cup and Boston Bob's defeat makes is a shocker.

16/1 third. If every day had been like today it would have been a good festival.

Terrible day. Lost on every one- got some cash back from a non runner. Not that much lost but thought I'd get one or maybe two of the 4 races I was going for.

Only 2 winners today were Sir Des Champs at 3/1 and Riverside Theatre at 7/2....a fivver on each.

I'm well up this week so for tomorrow I've went a wee bit mental.

1.30 - £5 on Hollow Tree at 12/1
2.05 - £2.50 on Magnifique Etoile at 14/1
2.40 - £2.50 on Fox Appeal at 16/1
3.20 - £5 on Burton Port at 7/1
4.00 - £5 on My Flora at 8/1
4.40 - £5 on Molotof at 14/1
5.15 - £5 on Toubab at 8/1

Overall I'm up about £160 so I'm throwing £30 at it tomorrow.

Absolute fucking stinker of a day I had.

Overall, an excellent Tuesday and Wednesday, I was about £135 up. Then spent £50 yesterday and today with fucking zero return. £85 up over the course of the festival so I'm happy with that.
