Hi all, hope one of the resident experts can help out with this teaser posed in the pub the other day.
The question was "name the goalkeeper who has played in BOTH the English AND the Scottish top divisions by the youngest age?"
Wrong answers so far include Craig Gordon (who was an old man of 24 when he joined Sunderland), David Marshall (no English top-flight games) and Nicky Walker (ditto).
One of the old boys said Willie Duff (Hearts/Charlton 1950s), if Wikipedia is right with the dates he'd have played top flight for both by the age of 21 and a few months.
Then I read up on Ronnie Simpson who apparently became Newcastle's first-choice keeper "shortly after the start of the 1951-52 season" after being with Queen's Park in the top level. Back to Wikipedia for a DOB which would mean he was still just under 21 years old then.
Only problem is we've been assured the actual answer was even younger than Simpson!
So who has actually played in goal in both the English and Scottish top divisions, and done it before the age Ronnie Simpson managed it? Cheers for any input.

Kasper Schmichael ?
Keighan Parker- ""Out of all the places I've played, the biggest crowd to noise ratio I've experienced is at Ayr." Ryan Stevenson- "I managed to play for Ayr, the team i supported as a boy" Liam Tomsett-"The fans were amazing, to come all that way up there and give us that backing. I couldn't believe the way they were carrying on- it was crazy"

Am sure he was 20 when he joined Falkirk and was still 20 when he made his Man City debut. Good shout!

Who gives a monkeys who boness sign. They quite simply will not pose any threat to linlithgow this season. We have taken a squad who finished three points adrift and improved it all round. Boness have taken a league winning side and ripped it apart on the back of one mans whims. Top 5 at best for boness this year

Would'nt this be his first or second season as a premiership goalkeeper?

As first choice yes, but i think he played as a stand in once when Harper/Given was injured.
