I was having a discussion with a colleague this morning about Cardiff, and talking about their use of Scottish players.

They of course have County's youth product and former Club Captain Don Cowie at the moment. And this got me thinking about how many other players linked with 1st division clubs have been through the doors at Cardiff. I can't be bothered looking up all the players I can in their history, but so far I can tie a few players/clubs to them. But can we get the full house?

So far I've got:

Dundee: Gavin Rae & Fan Zhiyi
Livingston: Neil Alexander
Raith Rovers: Graham Mitchell
Ross County: Don Cowie

Keighan Parker- ""Out of all the places I've played, the biggest crowd to noise ratio I've experienced is at Ayr." Ryan Stevenson- "I managed to play for Ayr, the team i supported as a boy" Liam Tomsett-"The fans were amazing, to come all that way up there and give us that backing. I couldn't believe the way they were carrying on- it was crazy"

Not Scottish but Robert Earnshaw was at Morton.

Still good enough for me!

So... QotS, Falkirk, Partick and Hamilton. Any takers?

Don't think we've had anyone at all.

Not conscious of anyone ever playing for both Cardiff City and us. Not recently anyway. Stephen Dobbie of course went just down the road to Swansea.

Probably bending/breaking your rules completely here but Kenny Miller had a loan spell at Stenhousemuir before he broke through at Hibs.

Not first division, but still Scottish League.

Former thistle fullback Scott 'Boab' McCulloch played for Cardiff earlier in his career. The brunt of his jags career was spend in the 2nd but he may have played a game or two in the first but I can't remember TBH.

Frack me you are slipping! ;)

According to a quick Google search the only link between the clubs I can find is George McLachlan. He played for Cardiff 1925-1929 then managed QoS in 1935-1937.

Much like the Morton example, Kasper Schmeichel had a loan stint at Cardiff. Sadly doesn't fit the bill as a Scottish player though.

Graham Mitchell was awful.

Also, former rovers player Frank Burrows went on to manage Cardiff in the 90s.

Don't worry guys, there was no rules, just a general curiosity considering Cardiff seem to have a thing about Scotland/Scots! Good effort though.

Former Cardiff manager Dave Jones nearly got himself a move to Peterhead.

I'm sure Boab played in first, I recall a thunderbolt free-kick against the Ton in one of the customary spankings we enjoy dishing out to them....
Don't like Cdiff, more of Jacks man. Think they have had a few faces from Scotland over the years. In fact, Jason Scotland springs to mind. Also John Hughes, Bayo Akinfenwa and Paul Chalmers. No Jags though :(

Aaron Wildig was on loan at Accies last season from Cardiff.

Scott McCulloch also has an Accies connection.

That was in a division 2 match, back in the 05/06 season if I'm not mistaken. I think that Jukka Santala scored in the same game, and you had Graham Dorrans on loan from Livingston.
