Siobhain McDonagh, MP for Mitcham and Morden, has asked the House of Commons to back a campaign to get MK Dons to drop 'Dons' from their name.
Wiping away the tears, Ms McDonagh said: "I want the authorities to look at the running sore of Franchise FC stealing our name."
A shite franchise club they may be, but what a pointless waste of everyone's time. They can call themselves what they like.

Presumably to scramble for relevance. Ridiculous to treat it as a parliamentary issue, even if I agree with what she's saying.

FTR, MK Dons will be twice the club Wimbledon ever where, 800 fans for a match in Division 1 - good riddence to a club who were most notable for fielding a gang of thugs. If MKD don't want to change their name they shouldn't have to.

Quite apart from the obvious fishing trip, ICT's formation cannot be compared to MK Dons's. All but a few cave dwellers have accepted that the amalgamation of Caledonian and Inverness Thistle was necessary for the club to be accepted into the league. Remember at the time that Highland based clubs had been overlooked for decades for admittance to the SFL, there was a distinct possiblity it may have happened again in 94. Wimbledon were re-located to a completely different city which caused a lot of hostility. Totally different scenarios.

They bought the name of the club so they could cheat their way into the English Football League without fighting through the pyramid like anyone else. Now that there's talk of AFC Wimbledon moving back to the area, they should expunge that shameful episode from their history by removing Dons from their name for good.

I can remember the mid-80s crazy gang, not a nice a bunch. Saw them on a few occasions in the flesh and they were just a bunch of assasins.
Still a hell of a lot of bitterness from the Wimbledon end towards MK. The current Wimbledon goalkeeper (who supported the old club) was absolutely getting stuck into MK on last week's London Late Kick-Off show. Sounds like there could be carnage when they inevitably meet.

Would MK Dons be even close to where they are if they didnt get a free ticket into the football league? Every other club has to work it's way through the league. they earned a right to be where they are,
MK Dons can GTF, same goes with Airdrie United
EDIT: Peter Winkelman is a slimy c**t also

Ayr United did the same as ICT to try and avoid their extreme diddiness a century ago, time has covered it up quite well.

The irony of this coming from a Caley fan is too much.
Highland Cowden is right, Thistle should have been dropped from ICT years ago.

At the end of the day, Wimbledon were fucked. I'd direct my anger to them if I were a fan.
It is a technique that can be especially effective for a team with either fast or tall strikers. The long ball technique is also a through pass from distance in an effort to get the ball by the defensive line and create a foot race between striker and defender.[1] While often derided as either boring or primitive,[2] it can prove effective where players or weather conditions suit this style; in particular, it is an effective counter-attacking style of play in which some defenders can be caught off-guard. - Wikipedia
