Watching the African Nations just now. Libya playing Zambia on a pitch 10 times worse than the Gaswork. Quite enjoying it too.
Think all junior refs would have put the game off though.

Nowadays for Certain they would call the game off.

But not that long ago Junior Games would have taken place.

Good to hear a player coming out saying that

That said if the pitch is waterlogged it can make it a bit of a farce

Wouldnt want to be a goalkeeper on a pitch like this one tonight the ball would be like a bar of soap.

Ah'd rather the odd game got cancelled than the pitch gets churned into a tattie field for the rest of the season.

Gemes get started on pitches that are just about playable but by halftime thay are becoming a quagmire, what happens? The teams come out and restart the game on a pitch that the ref. would never have started the game on, where's the logic in that?

RRG, you'll remember the state of the ground by the end of our Sect League cup game earlier this season, would they have begun the game in these conditions?
In over half a century of watching junior football I have only been at one game which was abandoned due to weather once it had begun. Similarly how many games have you been at which finished in near darkness, why don't they get abandoned, who knows what is going on behinf the refs back there?

Don't think they would have . Fans could walk across the pitch ( well behind the goals but you could see the actual pitch close up ) getting over to the big enclosure before and after the game . Before the game what struck me was how well the kilsyth pitch was looking even though it had been raining what i remember all afternoon. As the match went on big puddles were forming on the playing surface and by the end it was in a totally unplayable state. As i said kilsyth pitch in tip top condition and even it struggled with the weather that day.

tbh i think the referee that night made the right decision in getting the game finished , a sectional cup tie , both sets of players and supporters would of made a big effort to get to the game that night so it was only right to see the game through IMO.

I think referee's are under instructions to get certain games completed no matter what .
