You can only chose one player from your club's history to enter the Hall of Fame. Who's your choice?

I'll start this one off with the legend that was, the late great Archie Bryce. Archie played for some 12 years for Shotts in the 60s and 70s, scoring 429 goals. Quite a feat, even in those days.

Talbot has it's very own Hall of Fame, and the fans get to vote who goes into it. Visitors to Beechwood who go into the social club back room can see those who have been entered to it on the back wall. It isn't just the players though as Davie Loy, our venerable Treasurer was very warmly welcomed into it last year as a special one off for his sterling years of service to the club.

Its a tough one for me as most of the 'great' talents that played for Ashfield didn't really play long for the club. That included Stevie Chalmers, Walter Smith & Billy Reid.

My choice is more recent. Paul Maxwell is currently in his 9th season at the club (discounting his short stint at Dumbarton last year) has scored over 100 goals and has been a great servant. Throw in a couple of league title medals, the big man along with the likes of Mark Thomson & Tony Chlamers has played in all the leagues from the Central 2nd up to the Super Premier and all 3 still playing consistently well.

For me it would have to be Joe Mulheron for us, played more games than anyone else (I think its around 600) from the age of 17 till 37, and even in the bad old days was worth 20-25 goals a season from midfield

mark hailstones is the same hes in his and clydebanks 9th season in the juniors. mark played in the very 1st game at johnstone burgh (think it was 2-1 to the burgh and davie reid scored the bankies goal) mark and budgie mc ghie r the only 2 people from current squad who where there at the start. mark has played 287 times for us and scored 62 goals.

Billy Young Auchinleck lifted the Sottish cup 5 times as captain also many other trophies to his name played for us for over 10yrs.

Could name plenty more Talbot players but if its just the one then it has to Billy.

Great player Dave, always has a knack of scoring some crackers especially a couple against Ashfield the past couple of seasons. Great goals to games ratio from Mark, not sure how many Maxwell has played, im guessing its around the 300 mark.

Great to see commitment from the guys at Bankies, special mention to Budgie McGhee also.

aye wee mark has played in every position for the bankies also he hasnt really got a set position either that or budgie still hasnt found it lol. budgie made 213 apperances for the bankies in the 70s and 80s scoring 13 goals. i dont remember him as a pleyer as it was before my time but hes done a good job as manager.

Has to be John McKenna at Beith for me.

Great player who had various spells at the club and made appearances for us in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Willie Hynds ( captain Fauldhouse United ) from possibly one of the best Junior sides of that and any other era ... 1946 Scottish Junior Cup Winners, six trophies and two league titles and went 46 games without defeat over nearly two seasons !

William Hill of Bathgate Thistle who was at the club almost 30 years as goal scorer, coach and Scottish Cup winning manager. Certainly go down as a great in our history for his achievements.

I suppose the older you are you will remember more players. Here at kilwinning theres loads but if i had to pick one then i will go for Gerry Pelinie for all his goals and scoring the only goal in the scottish cup final in 1999 .
