Crompton seems like a good find for St Johnstone but when did they sign Otto Kretschmer to make his 79th minute contribution?

Well played Motherwell and St Johnstone. That was a super game of football and if it had come to pass that it ended up a draw I would have had few complaints. Though I might have had a moan about the penalty. I don't really think it was a dive or someone trying to win a penalty it was just a natural coming together but it was never a foul.

I think St Johnstone were a much better team today than when they came and won 3-0 at Fir Park earlier in the season. We had a natural weakness from corners as Craigan and Higdon were missing and St Johnstone did a reasonable job of putting us under pressure.

Clancy's boot on Sandaza was pretty brutal in the first half though it was obviously an accident. I think to say St Johnstone were physical is a compliment to them as they played a very good counteractive game at times and whilst they occasionally mistimed some I don't think there was one tackle they went into where they were attempting to hurt. Its easy to say Ojaama was kickced by a succession of different players but he is a nifty wee bugger who runs all over the place and I genuinely believe when he was caught it was just an accident.

Obviously a huge game and therefore makes the three points more valuable but it is only three points and I think we saw enough of Saints today that we should expect them to be beating most teams in the SPL. I think they have absolutely been the surprise package this season and have done it more quietly than we have. Enjoyed watching them today.

And it was good of the game to have its own Goal of the Season competition. Think Morris edgedit though.

Cracking game in my opinion. 5 goals, plenty of chances, some good football & some proper meaty challenges. On that front I did feel Saints were a bit dirty at times but in fairness we didn't really hold back ourselves and as was alluded to above Clancy on Sandaza was the worst tackle of the game. Although Sandaza caught him late a few minutes later. A proper match were neither team gave an inch.

Thought we started the brighter and Ojamaa again was the difference. Lasley did brilliant to win the ball back twice and when Ojamaa got his chance he took it although I thought Encklemen could have done better. Their equaliser was a belter which seems to becoming the norm at Fir Park when the other team scores. Thought we were unlucky to go in level at the break. Then Saints seemed to pile on the pressure for the first 20 mins of the 2nd half before wee Ojamaa took another half chance and fired it into the corner. Get this boy signed, looks a brilliant prospect! Then Lasley's goal did take a big deflection but it was still a great goal for me as it was Keith that won the ball back at the edge of his own box then carried on his run and got on the end of the move to finish it off. Rounded of a great performance from him. The penalty looked soft at the time and I still don't think it was a pen. Saints put the pressure on but I thought we saw it out fairly comfortably. Perhaps just shaded the game overall and deserved the win.

Great game and that's us picked up 7 points from the last nine available, a slide down the table indeed. We've also scored 6 goals in our last 2 home wins, not bad considering we'd only managed 7 in the league in the previous 10 home games.

Six points clear in third at the end of January, I might just have taken that at the start of the season. Oh and in case I haven't said it before, sign up Ojamaa!!

A cracking game of football with some very nice goals. Saints probably deserved a draw but I don't understand where luck came into it. Steven Anderson was absolutely bonkers to hack Henrik Ojamaa off the ball after having been yellow carded and should have been sent for an early bath well before half time. The penalty came into the very soft category. We struggled physically against a big hard Saints side and they struggled with our pace and skill - quite predictable really.

A great result for us and it keeps us clearly in 3rd spot but for how long?

Having read through the posts after the game does anyone else find it refreshing that two sets of supporters can actually discuss a game in a rational manner and give credit to each team without resorting to personal insults like supporters of certain other teams. :)

The most refreshing difference with Ojamma for me, is that when he gets the ball in or around the box, you can tell his first thought is "how can I score from here". I don't think we have another player in our squad for whom scoring goals is an instinct like that. Aside from that his attitude is infectious and you can see the rest of the players want to be on his bandwagon. For a guy who has hardly had any football at all at this sort of level, to still be sprinting to close people down in the last few minutes of a match as physically demanding as this, tells you all you need to know.

Didn't think it was a penalty at all...in fact I had never even thought penalty until the players started moving into position. I was behind the opposite goal right enough so quite a bit away, but it looked to me like the player jumped up and diagonally to his left of his own accord, before any touch came into him. Thankfully we managed to kick on and it doesn't really matter either way.

Finally, couldn't do anything but applaud Morris' goal, absolute peach of a technique.

It's ok - we've got St Mirren and Hearts coming up - so enjoy it while it lasts :)

looked like a cracking game on Alba, 4 very high quality goals. That Ojamma chap looks the part.

Would have said on balance saints were lucky to be level pegging at half time, but the second half was great stuff. End to end even after the 2 goal lead from Motherwell it never looked completely home and dry.

Pretty sketchy penalty, maybe a little evening out of some of the bad ones we have had against us. Saints couldn't really break down Motherwell for that 3rd.
Think Croft will divide opinion between saints fans, he has a lot of great parts to his play but gave the ball away far too easily IMHO against a team that like to pass it about.
Sandaza was greedy at times but he can get away with that. Thought Craig was great spreading ball around the place, i do think its about time Murray Davidson was given a rest to
see how Craig can run that position.

I think everythings been covered quite fairly by both sets of fans here.

I would add that I didn't think it was a pen at the match. Seeing it back on Alba changed my mind a bit. It does look like jennings has a hold of Davidson to try and stop him getting off the ground. Defiinetly in the 'seen them given' catagory.

Its also been mentioned already... But the quality of away goals at Fir park have been outstanding in the past 4 league games there. I have applauded Goodwin, Tade, Kirk and Morris's strike in each of those matches. Kind of nice to see us lose goals where your head is in your hands due to some kind of defensive error. Although Hammell shouldn't have been caught in possesion in the lead up to the goal today.

Seemed to be quite unlucky. Hopefully we can have a game post split to decide who gets third and who gets fourth.

Great win yesterday. Thought it was a pretty good game, with a lot of good finishing. Morris's goal was a peach. The penalty was a soft one in my opinion but I feel as St Johnstone were unlucky not to head back to Perth with at least a point which i think they deserved.

Thought that as well, if you love football you should see both teams and accept that your team doesn't always have to be the better team. From my angle it was a definite pull on Murray D for the pen, but all said and done, great game and magic to discuss it without petty name calling etc

I've seen some amount of shite this season but yesterdays match was actually worth paying to see.

Two teams trying to win, lots of goal efforts, excellent goalkeeping, shots off the bar, some aggression on the park and some clattering tackles, some great goals and genuine entertainment. If only we could get something like that every week!

We are now getting to the stage in the season where I'm seeing teams for the second time and St. Johnstone have impressed. They played very well in the first match and ran right over us and were deserved winners, probably the most convincing home defeat we've suffered this season. Yesterday they gave as good as they got and can consider themselves unlucky not to get something out of it. In the end they guys at either end of our formation were crucial. Randolph was immense in goal and so was Ojamaa up front - that was the difference.

What's that awful, monotonous chant that the people with the flags and drums sing for about 20 minutes straight? That was pretty annoying.

But I liked the Ojamaa one.

Hell, I'll be delighted and even more impressed when I can post something (especially on We Are Perth) and my OWN fellow supporters can actually discuss a game rationally and not resort to personal insults.
'Well done yesterday to all concerned.

The highlights made it look like we battered you from start to finish. Think they only showed your 3 goals.

We've come to expect such anti Motherwell bias from the Scottish media I'm afraid. :(

Agreed, I was surprised that they did show Hammell's shot bouncing off the bar as they had already edited out Murphy's shot at the start of the match.

Stopped reading after the lazy journalism in the first line... "on a tricky pitch". Same old tired, outdated clichés of the Fir Park pitch from years past. It's in almost perfect condition at the moment.
