Starting to get a bit tight in this part of the table.

Motherwell, Hearts, St Johnstone (Maybe DU).

Looking at the upcoming fixtures Hearts have a real hard time; Motherwell and St Johnstone look a bit friendlier.

Motherwell @ 10/11 with the bookies, Hearts 9/4 and St Johnstone 11/2.

Could the Super J's do it? I fancy Motherwell to get their act together again.

Here's the fixtures -

Another couple of wins against Motherwell and Aberdeen and we'll be right up there again. We've just let our European contest slip in the last few weeks.

Hearts will be 3rd they are better than Motherwell. I'd like to see Motherwell finish 3rd though. St Johnstone won't be top 6 never mind challenging for 3rd.

Unless we can start scoring goals away from home we have no chance of 3rd.

Failed to find the net in 8 out of 12.

You're a broken record, we've meritted our position and have a 7 point gap to 6th, with a game in hand. Why do you find it so hard to gives us credit??

Posted Image I believe the signings of Croft and Compton give us a new dimension and a boost, which should see us challenging right until the end. Fran looks set to stay and if he stays fit i reckon we will nick 3rd. Hearts are quite inconsistent and i get the feeling the drama down Gorgie way isnt done this season, Motherwell seem to be getting sussed out by a few teams and i expect them to start stuttering at the latter stages

No doubt some Pars fans will be along in a minute to tell us Rutkiewicz can inspire them to third... Posted Image

Who's good enough to knock them outta the top 6 like?

Not St Mirren that's for sure!
Originally written by John Robertson, Hearts legend and hammer of the wee team with 27 fantastic goals!

For the next decade I was driven by desire to crush Hibs at EVERY opportunity.

It didn’t matter if I scored for the reserves or first team — every goal against them gave me immense satisfaction.

Hopefully ourselves but if not us then St Johnstone, Hertz getting third would just reward their cheating.

Lomas certainly had them sussed last time you played them.

The fact that we have one of the worst away records if not the worst away record in britain, not sure it'll be us..

I said a few teams. I wouldn't really expect a newly hired manager playing a team for the first team to know EXACTLY how Motherwell play anyway.

If we've managed to get ourselves into 3rd place despite all the behind the scenes shenanigans then I see no reason why we can't finish 3rd come the end of the season. If we stop losing silly games at home and can atleast get a few wins away from home then we could probably run away with 3rd place. Both St. Johnstone and Motherwell don't really look capable of maintaining a sustained challenge for 3rd place so unless we do end up losing a few of our first team squad, I'll be disappointed if we don't finish 3rd come May.

Edit: That's alot of 3rd's. Posted Image

What makes you say this? What have Hearts shown that neither us nor Motherwell have shown?

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'd be extremely happy to get 6th by the toss of a coin but I don't see your logic.

We're going to need to start scoring goals away from home if we want to finish third.

No trouble getting the goals at home but seven goals in twelve matches (five of those are against the bottom two clubs) isn't going to win many points.

If we can avoid selling too many players in the next nine days I think we should have the quality to get enough points to finish third but that will require an improvement away from home.

Could even open up to DDee Utd and Dons or anyone who can put a few wins together. What is in our favour is we have had a blip and on the evidence of the 2nd half yesterday (hopefully) we are showing signs of coming out of our dip. That + our games in hand and the fact Hearts and St J have to come to Fir Park may just give us the edge. I also expected Hearts to lose a few more players and maybe even Sandaza to leave the Perth Saints during the transfer window.

Not even bothered by 3rd place - would take 4 rh or 5th place if it guaranteed a place in Europe.

Is it just me that finds threads like this pathetic? The OF are in the league and are therefore part of it, like it or not.

Yawn. When we finished 3rd in 2008/09 our away form was crap as well but our home form was really good like this seasons. Likewise when we done back to back third placed finishes in 2002/03 and 2003/04 our home record was far better than our away record.

We're inconsistent? We've won five, drawn one, and lost one in our last seven games - that's pretty good form and also shows decent consistency. And what teams are truly consistent most of the time in the SPL apart from the Old Firm, anyway?

Anyone who does not think it will be Hearts should be locked away in a mental ward. Hearts to finish 3rd dispite financial bother.
No more Gary Caldwell in the Scotland team.
