Got a mention on 'Off the Ball' for the 2nd time today (answering the question about Bobo Baldes teammate who name-shared with a famous Liverpudlian singer, which of course was Mo Sylla) although not very impressive at all, i was quite proud of myself!

Also went to Crosshill Primary school with Roddy Patterson, Ayr United's 19 year old wonder kid, scored 7 goals in an U19 match last seaon! Also scored against Raith at start of the season. Fantastic player with great poaching ability. Keep an eye out for him!

Were you on 'Off the Ball'? Were you an extra in Only an Excuse? Did you phone up to have an argument with Jim Traynor?8)

What is YOUR claim to footballing fame?

actually heard that today and wondered what the answer was!
my claim to fame was that i played in the same youth team as Craig Conway at Caley boys club in prestwick. i was also a winger and kept him out the team for a season, he then started to develop at the age of about 13 and became a differant player. i became the bench warmer, he eventually left for ayr and i got back in the team. the rest they say is history!:D

great thread btw

he dives to the left, he dives to the righttttttttt! Kevin Cuthbert makes strikers look shite!!!!

I played in the same teams as about half a dozen guys who went on to play senior football at different stages. None to any great level tho'. Most are either in the Juniors or quit the game entirely now but I was better than most of them at the time (although I'd put that down to me being big and tall for my age rather than skill levels).

Aside from that got an e-mail read out on Off The Ball (divers XI I put forth Sandy Jardine) and Sportsounds (name the league clubs in Scotland/England with a compass point in their name. Was referred to as a "howitzer" of a question). Split a cab with Derek Collins once as well.

If anyone watches Sportscene Results on a Saturday Evening, Jonathon Sutherland gives quotes from all sorts of football forums. Members from P&B often get a mention.

I was once on the TalkSport phone in. They were asking people to phone in with the name of the Coldest stadium in Britan. Someone phoned in and said Wigan's DW (JJB at the time) Stadium. The panel unanimously decided that Wigan's stadium was indeed the coldest. I then phoned in and said Broadwood was the coldest, one member of the panel agreed and said he was at Broadwood for a Clyde v Man Utd and he was freezing - and that was in July!

SSN, George Square, Glasgow, me and my mates all wearing kilts and stags masks getting interviewed live before the Cup Final.
I didn't say much, cause I was at the back of the group holding a massive flag, but DalryStag (wherever he's disappeared off to on here these days) did most of the interview. The geeky statto.

Ryan Stevenson bought me a drink, Craig Conway is a family friend as is Steven Lennon formerly of Rangers and I used to play for the same team as Liam Caddis.
We all spend a little while going down the rabbit hole.

I can't remember what my comment was but it got a mention a few years ago.

During the 2-1 AET loss against Rangers in the cup, the camera was going through the fans and came to me, so I decided to wave like a complete fanny.

Had a few things read out on off the ball and sportsound. Many moons ago I was in the Rovers section of those wee Sky Sports pre-match montages they do when we played at Celtic Park. And even longer ago I asked a question on Sport in Question which was a football panel discussion thing with Archie McPherson. I think that's my 15 minutes about used up.

I've had a couple of texts on the BBC updates of the SPL. Hardly a massive claim to fame but I'm sadly proud of it!

Got a letter in Fourfourtwo this month. I write articles for the Cowdenbeath programme which won the programme of the year award for the 1st Division last season.

Been in crowd shots at games and was seen celebrating like a nutter during the pitch invasion when we beat Brechin to win the play-offs on BBC Alba.

Yeah, I've had a comment read out by Mr Sutherland on the TV, although I think it was lifted off of WAP.

I was marking Leigh Griffiths when my team played against Livingston U16/17's (I can't remember the exact age group). Zoran Lemajic's (anybody remember him?) daughter was in my class at Primary School. That's all I have...

Played football with Eddie Malone when in Portugal (think he was at St Johnstone) at the time. He was with his mum and dad and to this day we still send them a christmas card.

I was sitting in front of Derek McInnes on the way back from Floida and got talking to him, he asked me what I though of Stephen Reynolds and I didnt have the balls to tell him he was pish, i know wish i did as he got put back out on loan to us and done f**k all.

I played against James Forrest wee brother in the Ayrshire cup final about a year back, i ofcourse had him in my back-pocket.

Keighan Parker- ""Out of all the places I've played, the biggest crowd to noise ratio I've experienced is at Ayr." Ryan Stevenson- "I managed to play for Ayr, the team i supported as a boy" Liam Tomsett-"The fans were amazing, to come all that way up there and give us that backing. I couldn't believe the way they were carrying on- it was crazy"

Chick Young read out a message I left on the old BBC message boards once. Transfer window deadline day and someone suggested that Darren Fletcher had been spotted outside Love Street. My reaction was that he was probably buying the place.

Also probably scored against Alan Rough at a primary school coffee morning back in the day, but I'm not sure how famous that would make me.

I work with Davie Blaikie as well, Linlithgow Rose's record goalscorer.

Played in a few charity matches, the first I was 16 and was at the Falkirk Stadium my team consisted of Crawford Baptie, Tommy McQueen, Derek McWilliams, Martin Moon, Sammy McGivern, then the rest made up of Falkirk Staff/Coaches etc. I scored after Big Craw shelled a cross field ball about 60 yards right onto my toe and I rounded the keeper for an easy tap in. ( I am convinced it was the pass and not my first touch because I have none haha)

second was at Hampden and I was playing against Andy walker in the first half and Pat Nevin in the second

Andy walker is a dirty b*****d but knows how to play the game. Pat Nevin was a tricky bugger and despite being half his age struggled to keep pace with him. After the Game he came up and congratulated me in the way I marked him. he said he wasn't expecting to have to play the ball backwards as much as he had to. and gave me a few pointers on how to improve. Danny McGrain was managing my team and he was fantastic!

I also got to play in one of the Lower league grounds in Cyprus. ANAGENNISIS DERYNEIAS. A family friend knew the chairman. They were having a little open day type thing with a few fan's and ex players playing so I got to play for the second half I was only 15 and ran about like a mad man for the first ten mins needed about 3 gallon of water due to the heat and humidity! I learned quite a bit about passing and moving that day!!

Played a couple of seasons at youth level against Gary Gillespie, done ok scoring twice in 4 games.
Played at Brockville ( twice ), Firs Park and Ochilview in various youth and amateur games.
Also played in a friendly match in Newcastle against Blue Star in the summer of 86 i think it was...our team included Stuart Munro ( Rangers ) , Bryan Purdie ( Falkirk ) and Tam Ward ( ex Falkirk ).... none of who were meant to be playing officially., we got gubbed 3-2 IIRC, mostly because half of us were still pissed from the previous night.

Scored a penalty against Mark Brown once. An incredible thing, I'm sure you'll all agree.
Even Gregory Tade doesn't know what he'll do next.

Falkirk midfielder Stewart Murdoch and myself shared a chuckle and some patter when a fat girl fell over and had to helped off the dancefloor in City.

I'm told I was quoted on it once but I didn't hear it as I'm always at the games. I was also apparently mentioned by Div when he was on Off The Ball.

I once had a text read out on Sportsound by Richard Gordon too, though it was anonymous. It was during Inverness promotion campaign season before last and pointing out that whilst they were all saying that Dunfermline had also bounced straight back up after relegation from the SPL, they didn't do so as Champiosn because there were three promotion slots that season.

I acted as Club Secretary for the ten days or so ahead of our Scottish Cup Final in 2008 and the immediate aftermath as the regular guy was on a holiday he'd booked almost a year earlier. Of all the games to have to cover! It was absolutely manic and involved working 14 hour days for by and large all of the fortnight. I wouldn't have changed it for the world though.

I served a few Falkirk players when I worked in Sportsters a few summers back. Russell Latapy Posted Image and Liam Craig were in fairly regularly and Arnau Riera used to come in to play pool with his dad. Always a really pleasant guy.

I also remember meeting Colin Samuel in the Manikee a few years back. Must have been towards the end of his time at Dundee Utd and he was sporting the blingest watch I've ever seen. It was diamond encrusted and the face of it had a spinner on it like you might see on the alloys of a rapper's Escalade.

Is there a prize for having been in Behind The Wall on at least five separate occasions and never having seen Russell Latapy, by the way?
