Name your best ever world 11. Has to be players who have played when you've been alive and you have a memory of seeing playing football (so no Pele or Maradona for me).

GK: Van der Sar

RB: Cafu
CB: Desailly (My favourite ever foreign player)
CB: Carvalho (really)
LB: Roberto Carlos

DM: Viera
LM:Ronaldo (Portugal)
RM:Messi
AM: Zidane (God)

CF:Ronaldo (Fat)
CF: Batistuta (Goal machine)

This team would whip any team in the world, or any team you might select
Major Titles:
Kilmarnock - 5
Ayr United - 0
1 team in Ayrshire

Well, if it's a Real Madrid side two will probably have been sent off for attacking Messi for no apparent reason, so he might be right.

In a 4-2-1-3:

Iker Casillas

Paolo Maldini
Fabio Cannavaro
Lilian Thuram
Marcos Cafú

Xavi Hernandez
Andres Iniesta
Zinedine Zidane

And for my forward trio: Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry, when they had their legs, with the WC 2002 version of Fat Ron poaching with 9 on his back.

None of the aforementioned teams could cope with a wry Wednesday night in Stoke.

Havent had one of these in a while

I was born, as my username suggests, in 86, but i think it may be cheating to include guys like Maradonna,Matheus,Van Basten and so on. My Football "peak" - buying Shooot!,Match and collecting pannini stickers would have been 96-2003(ish)

sooo..

----------------------------------------- --------------Buffon---------------------- ---------------

----------------------------------------- -----------Keane-------------------------- ----------------------

-----------------------------------Xavi-- -----------------------------Iniesta------ ----------------------------

----------------------------------------- ---------Zidane--------------------------- ------------------------------------

--------------------------------Messi---- --------------Ronaldo------------------C.Ronaldo

The only two I'm not 100% on are Sammer and Keane.

This thread has reminded me how much I loved Thuram and Maldini, if I could have crowbarred zannetti in there, i would have

I [agree/disagree] with your assessment because you [praised/insulted] a [team/person] that I [support/loathe]. Furthermore, I [admire/ridicule] your writing based on the previous statement, and not on the merit of what was actually written.

[Insert final attempt to be witty here]

The amount of teams that don't include the greatest player to ever play football is shocking. Messi btw.

The great players prove themselves at World Cups and European Championships. Messi might well one day be the greatest player ever but he's still got a bit to do. That said time is on his side.

Messi just missed out on my team, so did Xavi and Dani Alves from the current Barcelona side.

 where is Klose in your team them?

Great players prove themselves at the highest level over a period of longevity. 2 weeks every 2 years does not count.

You sure that those players could line up in that formation

You might need to have a tactical rethink here :P
