As was stated, as Saints fans we were all searched by the wall of stewards at the recent Motherwell game, we were not warned, but there was no problem, i didnt hear anyone complaining about it.

Stop fucking whinging, if you want to boycott, boycott, if none of you came for both games it would cost us as much as Kenny McLeans left leg.

For real though, Celtic supporter's are like a pack of rabid animals. Punching stewards/policeman, smashing up the catering and toilets, abusing the wee lassies that serve the pies and just generally behaving like fucking hooligans.

Strathclyde police should just divert all their supporters buses off a cliff one day and do the world a favour.

St Murn should search them on the way out as well and retrieve the seats they are well known for ripping out.

There will be about 3000 Celtic fans at the game. If 3 of them carry flares that comes to 0.1% of the support at the game. That means 99.9% get treated like suspects without justification. It's a recipe for a fight outside the ground.

If some idiot wants to let off a flare then I'm all for them getting the book thrown at them, but there's a limit to what can be proactively done. If I was going I'd personally resent this treatment and I'm not exactly one for eyeballing rival fans looking for a scrap outside the ground.

2999 of those fans will most likely sing some sectarian songs at some stage that day, so its only correct that the police treat them all as criminals.

Not bottle! Stupidity maybe! So Imagine this was your kid. Would you praise him for challenging 4 guys for singing sectarian songs? Or would you give him hell for being reckless with his own safety?

So, if you saw 4 guys committing a crime (rape for example) you would just sit there and do nothing?

No wonder the OF are shite at self-policing

You said the guy shouldn't have stood up to them - even though they were breaking the law.

Explain how it is different?

So they're moaning because this causes delays getting in to the ground but ask every supporter to ensure the steward searching them is cleared to do so and has appropriate hand cover?

I don't disagree with what St. Mirren are doing here at all. But by the same token I think Celtic fans are quite right to ensure that the stewards who search them do so legally and properly. We submit to lots of breaches of privacy in our society and it's time that we took them more seriously.
Ol' Hick'ry said we could take them by surprise if we didn't fire our muskets 'til we looked them in the eyes

They were singing songs ffs! I could have seen his point had they been harassing or threatening someone. His reaction was a bit foolhardy. He could always have moved his seat. Like I said there are people who are paid and trained to deal with this he could also have reported this to them and the Police would have been waiting at the next stop.

Explain how it is different?

If I need to explain the difference between a breach of the peace and rape then I'm onto a loser trying to make you see sense.

Was this wee guy Employed to protect the delicate ears of fellow travellers? Was he trained in how to defuse explosive situations? Was he trained in self defence? His foolish actions could have helped in escalating things far beyond offended wee ears.

You should have complained. There's never been so little trouble at football games as now and yet ordinary fans are being treated like criminals.

You may get your wish regarding the boycott and I suspect that may be what the St Mirren are looking for in the long run.

Honestly can't understand the furore a simple pat down is causing. It's commen place at any large gathering of people these days. I'd say that was society in general to blame and not St Mirren.

Say you've been to a match, thrashed your opponents and whilst walking back to your car some eejit who is a bit pissed and has taken umbrage comes out the ground and coshes you over the napper with some sort of weapon. One of your first questions would be "How did he get the weapon in with him?"

Seems to me clubs are damned if they do and damned if they don't!

Not read the whole thread but the Aberdeen support often all get searched going into Ibrox, despite any missiles in the ground usually coming from the home stands, aimed at us.

Maybe once 100% of your fans stop taking flares then there will be no need for it.
