I wonder if the Swiss FA are on overtime rates? Sion must have kept them busy enough, and I'm sure this will run for a while too.

The Swiss Football League (SFL) has stripped Neuchatel Xamax of their license and expelled them from the Super League after they were suspected of falsifying a bank document produced as a financial guarantee last year.

Less than a year after being taken over by Russian businessman Bulat Chagaev, the club have already been deducted eight points for irregularities in the payment of social security contributions and players' wages. Now, Swiss media have reported that an important document was full of basic grammatical and spelling mistakes, prompting the move.

"The Swiss Football League has taken away Neuchatel Xamax's licence for participating in championships organised by the SFL," a statement said. "The disciplinary commission has reached the conclusion that the conditions for the license are no longer met due to the non-presentation of financial guarantees.

"The disciplinary commission is also convinced that the banking guarantee from the Bank of America was not provided by the latter."

The Swiss Super League has already seen FC Sion deducted 36 points for fielding players who were signed during a FIFA transfer ban, while Chagaev has sacked four coaches during his time at Neuchatel.

Laughing stock of Europe. Surely a 14 team league, summer football and sectionalised League Cups would end this madness?

A crooked owner from the former Soviet Union ruining a club? You wouldn't get that in the SPL.

Neuchatel were my team in one of those Play by Mail things you used to get out of Match magazine back in the 90's. Sad times for the mighty Xamax. :(

B*stards. Fair chance now that Sion will stay-up despite their 36pt deduction, only requires 8th or 9th via play-offs.

Can someone find a pic of Davie Dodds The Elephant Man in his Neuchatel strip? Nothing came up on a quick google sadly.

Does that mean their 5-1 pumping of Celtic gets stricken from the records?

Such a great name for a team.

From memory, that was the 3 nil defeat away to Croatia Zagreb. The game that Regi Blinker made his name a byword for sh*ting it out of a challenge.
