Ha-ha fooled yous!

Saturday 21st January

Central Taxis EoS League Premier Division
Edinburgh University v Stirling University ref Gavin Thomson

"You'll win nowt wi kids" once said by some famous scouse Scottish bloke.

Well today somethings got to give, or it could be a draw, eh?

Anyway as much as S Uni seem to be the favoured team, don't write (in not more than 3000 words) off the tax dodgers of Edinburgh's fair city.

Looking at the graph here (typical like most stoodents it doesn't work) not there, you'll have to then click "tables" then "Senior League" to get up the graph I eluded to earlier, you can chart both teams progress, I did a pie chart but sorry I ate it! The gist (not jizz) of my theory is although mathematical graphs don't lie, eg. both team having played 8 matches (at approx 90 minutes per game, not including extra time nor penalty shoot-outs, because these don't occur in league matches), the FACT of the matter is that S dodgers ARE a dozen points ahead at this state of play, it counts for nought in this match on Saturday though.

Both teams of schoolboys will be chomping at the bit in true comic-book Roy of the Rovers style (Billy the fish to those under 30). I predict a riot of goals & bloody knees with a few snotty noses too, mums dashing on to wipe said noses & dab slavver filled hankies to mud strained faces at 1/2 time during the orange segment break.

I reckon it's going to be a right good ol' scrum buggery of a match up on the wet & wind school fields of Peffermill, reminds me of the old days of school football & freezing cold showers, don't forget your hankies!

Grim
P.s. If you've a slight cold or the dog's eaten your homework or you are just looking to avoid bumping in to Jenkins (the school bully) then for an unfeasible tiny chunk of you pocket-money (£3) why not head off over to Ainslie Park for the Double Header of the Day, firstly at 1pm you'll get to see Spartans Seniors vs Selkirk & then after refreshments from the tuck-shop there's 2nd helpings at 3pm with Spartans Juniors vs Falkirk. Don't forget your scarves, bobble-hats & rattles, it'll be whizzard!
P.p.s. If you are bringing a parent then it's full price for them £5 unless they are on benefits, then it's same price as you tax dodgers, get in there!
P.p.p.s. Those that are collectors of Football Programmes, get hold of this one off collectors item, it's going to be a double header programme for both matches!

Spartans are playing Selkirk on Saturday, for those who are as confused as me.

I don't think they have a university in the borders town, but Keith Anderson used to play for them.

I hope the juniors gub Falkirk.

Aye but Scotty it's only a big match for you cos of yer "past", I'm talking MotD for the right reasons here ha-ha, so look in to your crystal ball & tell me how you see WW vs CSS going? I can't see there being any love lost on the parts of all concerned & I'll wager the card number outstrips anything the Gretna vs Tynie match can produce.

Forget my past Grim, I am not even playing, Im suspended. Look at the table, Strollers playing really well and WW desperate for the points with a new manager, should be a far better game the the Uni teams. Why would there be more cards in our game, stop talking nonsence.

Scotty your past precedes you, only you can shape the future Scotty, it's deeds & actions that tell. Likewise re the cards game, deeds & actions, if it's nonsense them time will tell, let's come back to this after Saturday's affairs.

Unlike any Spartans match, Leith Athletic v Edinburgh City features not one, but two, clubs who played in the Scottish League.

Whitehill v Strollers should be a cracking game. The Whitehill players will be up for the game after the upheaval this week, and Strollers have been going good guns. Reckon they'll miss Gormley right enough. Still positive the game will get the go-ahead, the pitch has been remarkably well kept this year, and there's been at least two games that I never thought would get played that have gone ahead there.

Here's hoping anyway, or else I'll need to go watch Musselburgh v Auchinleck in a bloody junior game, or (even worse Posted Image) have to give my money to the Spartans to see a game Posted Image

Always be more cards in a game not featuring the uni teams. Refs let them away with all manner of fouls and they always top the fair play league.

Next time your at a uni game compare their fouls to the oppo and I'll bet you ma weekly wage that you'll see bookings and fouls that one team is penalised with that the stoodents get away with.

I believe it was 2 yellows a piece as well as 2 goals a piece.

As poor a Gretna performance in the first half as I have seen. A Robbie Arthur brace gave Tynie a deserved half-time lead. Robbie went off injured and Tynie's main threat disappeared.

Gretna scored just after the break (I was too far away to see who scored) and then looked for the equaliser. They did get a second goal late on in the game and may even have had got a winner in stoppage time as Storey ran through on goal but was ruled off-side. It looked a dubious decision from where I was standing.

Overall a draw was fair result.
