Open the wiki page today and you get a black page. The site (only the English version) is down for 24 hours to show it disagrees with some legislation making it's way through the US Congress.
They want you to air your views on social networking sites - which might also be affected by the same legislation I expect.

Edit, noticed a spelling mistake

you can still get the pages cached though so it doesn't really make any difference.

Is it still possible to access Wikipedia in any way?
The Wikipedia community, as part of their request to the Wikimedia Foundation to carry out this protest, asked us to ensure that we make English Wikipedia accessible in some way during an emergency. The English Wikipedia will be accessible on mobile devices and smart phones. Because the protest message is powered by JavaScript, it's also possible to view Wikipedia by completely disabling JavaScript in your browser.

Mr. Wales's (non-profit) Wikipedia sites are courageously blacked-out to protest SOPA. His (for-profit) Wikia sites are courageously not.

 They will just have to be googletastic for a bit.
Peace will come to earth when the people have more to do with each other and governments less.

And that was not a good start, losing the Doctor at this stage of the game is pretty catastrophic, the Mafia will be creaming themselves after that kill. Particularly when the Doctor is as skilful a player as Forehead is.

Yes. Unless Sky go bankrupt, there is no way Italian football will ever challenge the Premiership again.

You don't even have to disable Java. Just a quick hit of the Esc button when the page is loading does the trick.

I need to say this – you shouldn't trust any government, actually including this one. You should not trust government – full stop. The natural inclination of government is to hoard power and information; to accrue power to itself in the name of the public good.

i said to swampy a while ago on a thread about about streaming football that i think that in the future people will look back on the early days of the internet as a kind of wild west era. corporations with the help of the us government will take control.

What's this about?
I [agree/disagree] with your assessment because you [praised/insulted] a [team/person] that I [support/loathe]. Furthermore, I [admire/ridicule] your writing based on the previous statement, and not on the merit of what was actually written.

[Insert final attempt to be witty here]

I used to play Quake 2 with one of the founders of Megaupload. He was a proper weirdo then but a funny guy.

And yes, we are indeed looking at the end of a golden age. I don't think things will be quite as bad as you say... but definitely worse than they are now.
