The Border Cup Final between Pencaitland and Leithen Rovers has been scheduled for Saturday 28th January 2012.

Venue: Peebles

Is this really a neutral venue, surely the BAFA could have tried a wee bit harder to get it played in a more neutral venue, 5 minutes from Innerleithen is hardly neutral.

Peebles is a neutral venue and easy for both teams to get to plus if it is on the EOS pitch then you also get a decent pitch. Would you prefer the game is moved to Hawick? Where would you like the game played?

I don't think the Leithen players would mind playing at Hawick either as it would save quite a few of their squad travelling ;) .
It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

Get of that high horse, we are only making a nice civil point.

We would be happy with Tweedmouth, Eyemouth, Kelso, Selkirk or Hawick

Just make it a touch more neutral for both sides.

Surely moving it to any of those towns may reduce the crowd as they're all further away from both sides? Plus the EOS pitch at Peebles is decent and has a grandstand.

I must admit beefy, when I found out it was at Peebles, I was rather surprised and a number of my players have actually stated, surely Pencaitland will not be happy with this.

That said, although Peebles is admitedly nearer to us, in my opinion does not give us a massive advantage - given that it is the home of our local rivals and a lot of people would no doubt rather see Pencaitland gub us again!

I thought Stow might have been the preferred option, but given the situation that a lot of clubs are in with postponed games, I assume they have opted for Tweeddales park as they have played all there home games bar one I think and it was available for use! It is also a very decent surface, which will suit both teams.

I understand the frustration beefy and sympathise with you!

Cost will no doubt come into it and of course availability. Has the pitch been "signed off" as playable yet?

Stow may have been an option but the crowd will have to wear life jackets!

Agreed, but the fairies have probably got a lot of games to catch up on - therefore its availability is in question!

KK,

See you at Peebles next Saturday, we were only making a point which we think is valid.

Heres hoping the game survives the weather.

Indeed mate, a valid point indeed! If the shoe was on the other foot, I would be saying the same thing!

I am sure it wont hamper what should be a good game for the neutral, excuse the pun!

Best of luk in the south this week as well!

Fair play kk for understanding pencaitlands issues, sure every other team would have sane issues with situation of final, but hopefully the park is in good nick and two of the best teams if not the best IMO can have a cracking final that the border league deserves

The BAFA i assume, just try and find out which parks would be available for the specific date of 28th Jan, once they ascertain which parks would be available, they then make an announcement to the respective finalists.

We at Pencaitland were not consulted on the chosen venue (nor probably should be)

I assume that 50% of our travel cost will be reimbursed from our local opponents on the day

Pretty bad that Leithen getting made to play final in peebles IMO,reasons been 99% of peebles will want them to lose.Pencaitland will have a 12th man in that respect.

Really don't know what the problem is here,,it's The Border Cup final so it gets played in the Borders,The game is getting played on Tweeddale Rovers pitch,,probably one of the best in the league, seems to me teams worry about where the game is getting played? If your good enough you can play anywhere and win anywhere,,!!!

Pencaitland(EH34) AND Innerleithen(EH44) both have Edinburgh postcodes so the final should be played at Meadowbank Stadium

No one at Pencaitland is moaning Hammyhill, purely stating facts, anyway you get yourself along to watch how football should be played on a decent park between the best two sides in the BAFA.

Easy fit would have been LAUDER, 18 miles travel for both teams.

Shit park, no changing rooms.

Why can't teams just accept its a rectangle 80yds x 120yds no matter where it is.

I agree any good team can play anywhere. Lets get on wi the football. Pencaitland

if not happy join a Lothian league where you are not good enough......

Hossie39 that is a tragic post.I speak on behalf of LR to say that pencaitland have been a great addition to to BAFA.Playing against good pencaitland teams over the last six years have helped LR players progress in to better players and achieve lots of silverware.Nothing worse than turning up for matches week in week out knowing the game is not going to be very competitive.Am sure it's not only LR that's has this opinion.
