OK 1320.......Got your answer?

I am sure that you as well as all the other true Lichties supporters are grateful for the negotiation skills of some that we have Samuel added to our squad.

The lift it gave the team yesterday was clearly evident and although there is an arguement that Rovers could and should have taken more of their chances................we have gone through a little spell where our chances fell to the wrong person or just wouldn't go in, and eventually someone was going to be on the end of some clinical finishing. Swanks turned up last week (after he got a little reminder of what's expected for the wages he is on whilst watching from the bench) and this week decided that he had better put in a performance befitting of his talent , "I dare say as we had a new addition to the squad". the gaffer will have moved up leaps and bounds with his fitness after that performance and all those doubters can shut-up. Yes we still need to bring in a good old style Centre Half, but where do you get one that will add value to our current squad? All views are welcome ( if sensible)......

ENJOY the moment as we have to face a resurgent Brechin next week but with Sammy added to the squad I think we can now go on a very good run before we meet Cowdung again.

Only 2 centre half s i can think off are chris innes free agent and big marvin andrews, but at 35 and 36 could they still do a job in division 2.

Our two centre halves, who conceded the fewest goals in Division 3 last season, were outpaced and outmanoeuvered far too easily and often. But I'm afraid the midfield were the worst offenders, in particular Ryan McStay's worst performance of a few notable candidates. Last, and least, Sean Pierce- it's extremely rare that I'll give a footballer a 0/10 performance but congratulations Sean, you've been singled out for negative attention on your debut. Radical changes in personnel from Paul Martin, and all the wrong ones. Heartless, gutless, hopeless.
Well done Arbroath, though, on a very strong performance all over the park. Paul Sheerin and Gavin Swankie were superb, Falkingham and Sibanda stood out also. A lot of 1st Divison players in that team, whose fates lie there whether the Lichties are promoted or not.

A bad day at the office for everyone at Albion Rovers, and it's all their fault. We must recognise our errors, continue the hard work we put in earlier this season and recapture its rewards.

I wasn't there yesterday but I'm confused you said that Mcstay was the worst performer yet according to a guy on Rovers message board he was best Rovers player or park? Is someone telling fibs here? And why cant people see Lumsden is past it and Obyrne is a much better defender?Posted Image

Why would they be telling fibs? Surely people can hold contrary opinions without either party being accused of lying.

Oh and for what it's worth, I was there and thought McStay was poor, albeit not as much of a culprit in the defeat as Lumsden and Donnelly. Oh and you're right O'Byrne is normally a better option than Lumsden... but not when he's injured

Who was Albion's number 7? he looked pretty decent when he was on the ball.
Key players were injured, and zander diamond wasn't.

No idea. I've blotted his performance from my memory.

Would have given Reid pass marks for effort, Snuffy, and thought Gaston made a lot of saves (I made it 9) that helped keep the scoreline as 'low' as it was, albeit it was fairly embarassing when he tried to push the ball over the bar and it fell into the net (4th/5th goal?)

Seen some poor performances, but that was probably the worst I've ever had to suffer. Arbroath started better and there was no surprise when they scored. Rovers got a goal against the run of play through a well placed Gemmell finish. The Rovers then collapsed and put in an awful display. No effort or commitment from most, second to every ball, and surely the worst defensive performance of any second division team this season. The worst moment was when Lumsden misread a header, it went over his head, then Donnelly did the same, only for Arbroath to score (can't remember if it was the 2nd or 3rd goal).

I'm not one to single out players, but Pearce on the right wing was the worst excuse for a player I've ever seen. From his attempted chip in the first half when all he had to do was put the ball across the 'keeper, to his inabillity to stop a ball on several occassions as it trickled out for Arbroath throw ins and goal kicks, to his horrendous pass back when one on one with the Arbroath 'keeper in the second half. His performance was so bad I question whether it was indeed deliberate. If today's performance from him is anything to go by, Martin has made an awful error of judgement, and Love and Hamilton must be questioning what the manager thinks of their ability if this guy is picked ahead of them. I hope we never see Pearce in a Rovers jersey again.

On a positive note, that was my first trip to Gayfield, and despite the freezing North Sea wind and the bizarre TV stand area that blocked a quarter of the pitch, I found it to be a pleasant ground to visit. Despite a poor Rovers display, I thought Arbroath looked very good. Sheerin, Falkingham, Doris and Swankie were all standouts in a well organised outfit.

totally agree, love already questioning where he will sign next season ?

Well that game ruined my weekend away, visiting the Sandwich in the NE. It's all been said about Rovers, so I won't repeat it, except I yesterday saw the worst debut of a player I've evere witnessed. Getting a lesson from a team stuffed with very good players would be bad enough, but even more alarming was the lack of fight in that second half. Our central defence frailties are there for all to see, but Rover and Out, I'll remind you that the Donnelly/O'Byrne combination wasn't exactly great in our New Broomfield calamity earlier in the season, of which yesterday's trauma reminded me.

Arbroath fans on here have offered some comforting words to us, but 4 limp defeats in succession have now rendered us favourites for bottom spot, and I can't see how we get out of it. Arbroath have improved immensely and have stopped a Cowden runaway, and that's good. Best of luck for the rest of the season to you lot.

You obviously don't read the same Twitter feeds as me; he's apparently been carrying a knock for a few weeks.

As for Larry, he was in the stand. Put simply, he's nowhere near good enough. Athlete yes; footballer no.

Agreed - too much hype over this lad - wouldn`t be in my starting eleven.

Jeez - we sound a bit like OF fans condeming a player after 1 outing!

I thought Sean Pierce did OK in the 1st half and was pretty obviously injured in the 2nd - I think it happened when he chased a ball to the byline with a lichties defender and stretched to try and get a cross in. He was holding his groin after that one and his 1-1 with the keeper came just after that - even then - it wasn't as clear cut as some are making out - there were 2 defenders closing down his options as he bore down on the keeper.

Some good comments on the game here - most folk will just look at the scoreline and think we were humped ( well ok - we were eventually) but it was a much more complex game than that. Thought we actually shaded the 1st half despite playing into the wind and as someone said Arbroath's 2nd and 3rd goals were against the run of play. Our goal was one of the best we've scored this season but as has been the case for too long now we just don't score enough goals to put pressure on teams ( except against Airdrie of course :-))

Our central defence however was dire - it looked like Cairan Donnelly had forgotten how to play at centre back after his spell at left back and Todd Lumsden has definately had better days.

On Paul Martin's team selection - we were on a 3 game losing streak with 0 goals scored so he had to do something to shake things up a bit. Actually both Love & Chaplain looked lively when they came on and had obviously got the message that their places are not automatic.

Surprised no one mentioned Jordan Halslam at Left Back - thought he was class and delivered some fine balls from the left in the 1st half. Hope we can get him on a longer loan deal.

Wide open with just the keeper in front of him, in plenty of space when the ball came to him. A sitter.

Not with you on this one, Shakey. He wasn't the only culprit, but Pierce looked disinterested to me. "Don't want to be here," his body language said to me.

Is that Jordan Halsman from Motherwell? He played for us last season and did a good job, wouldn't have minded seeing him back with us.
Little brown boy, the other side of the world....
He was born on a line many thousand year long, many more thousand to be
They survived on tradition, not wealth and position
Sounds pretty simple to me....

Yes - same guy - on a 28 day loan, but hopefully for longer.

Yes, and he was a chink of light on a very dark day. Don't know what's happening with our left-back Barry Russell who also looked good at the start of the season, before injury in October - three and a half long months ago.
