Talk about being `remote` ? Highland league.net, who offer excellent coverage of a tiny league in a very tiny area of the world, which has 18 very tiny clubs, is telling everyone this week that the SFA have `got it just about right`..... wasting money on just about everything that is totally unneccesary in our football system and economic climate is a GOOD IDEA. The site also opines " in my opinion, this is the way the game is going.. " which seems to refer to the current system of SPL/SFL dictat ?.
HFL clubs unanimously rejected that ... and quite clearly, most of them are unhappy, as are clubs elsewhere, with this system and its ridiculous consequences (.. like 10,000 seats ?) ... the most restricted national cup competition on earth... the most restricted leagues... persistently declining standards .... no competition ... poor financial returns ... very few interested in watching, playing, or assisting the game.
Their message to www.highlandleague.net .... and all others who agree to kow-tow to dictatorship and 3rd -rate football organisers ... IT AIN`T GONNA HAPPEN. In Scotland, we are looking for local democracy and decision making. In football we are looking for democracy and the involvement of ALL CLUBS in decision-making. Even in the remote Highlands, that should still be a pretty good guiding principle...
If HFL and other Scottish clubs do not challenge the SFA right now ... and win that democracy and the competitive rights that go with it ... things will NEVER be right in Scotland.
Incredibly, the site author began a paragraph with .... `if Scotland can qualify for Brazil 2014, that would be a great time to start a pyramid...`. That ain`t gonna happen either.

I don't think HFL's unanimous rejection of SFA's plan is borne of a wholesale rejection of the fundementals, anyway.
They appear to want a 16/18-team division, instead of SFA's proposed 10... and one must wonder if they don't want "proper" promotion-n-relegation into the Juniors / the "dregs" Seniors, hence the clearly deliberate decision to say they don't want a "pyramid system" but do want a "progressive programme"? Beyond that, however, nothing has emerged to suggest they're against the overall package. Infact, they appear supportive of the general jist and structural format.
HFL happily joined the Professional Board of the SFA (where they've 1 vote of 9 and 1 vote of 6 league votes - SPL having 3 and SFL having 2, which will presumably be turned into 5 for SPFL if its formed). If they can get their bigger division size you don't see them being hugely perturbed at a superficial rebranding to under SFA auspices - particularly if it means more money, and better Scottish Cup opportunities. It seems doubtful the collective body of clubs would sink the whole thing over the fates of the few clubs likely to miss-out. They also happily adopted licensing.
