Peebles Rovers 1 - 2 Eyemouth United
0 - 0 with ten minutes to go and Eyemouth down to 10 men, ref then awards Eyemouth 2nd penalty of the game, 0 - 1, Peebles equalise soon after, 1 - 1, Ref then awards Eyemouth their 3rd penalty of the game, 1 - 2 FT.
Highlights were Peebles goalie saving 1st penalty and also pulling off a save described by the Eyemouth goalie in the following way..." He had one save which was, well I have no idea how he got to it, it was well world class! "
Also the Peebles player trying to score direct from a corner for 5 or 6 corners in a row...I lost count, with the Eyemouth keeper tipping them round the back post, over the bar, round the front post whilst flattening his defender, over the bar again... great fun!
Eyemouth Utd now have 13 points from last 5 games and up to 2nd in Div 1.

Duns 5 - 0 Craigroyston
I took a run down to the borders yesterday and took in Duns v Craigy and I have to say it was a trip worthwhile for a neutral observer.
Two sent off for Craigy - one was their goalie for handling outside the box and no idea who the scorers were from Duns???? but certainly an entertaining match that had just about everything.
IMO Duns were comfortable throughout the game and never really looked in danger - Craigy may argue that was down to Duns numerical advantage I suppose and probably some over zealous refereeing although I thought the ref had not too bad a game tbh.
Also I was surprised to see a crowd of around 80 which one of their commitee guys told me was their average for this season.
Maybe someone in the loop can furnish us with the scorers from Duns and the dismissed from Craigy?
Will definetely be back!

Took a trip maself down to Peebles to c how th gulls would perform. Both teams did remarkably well to play on that surface cos it was a like a big field. Don't kno why th right back flew in for a challenge wen he was already on a yellow.made up refs mind. Peebles thought they'd grabbed a point but if it wasn't for th clumsy RM hacking down th gulls winger. Eyemouth currently posses th best team in that league, no dowt about it. Hopefully have th mental strength to go up!!'

Eyemouth defo contenders for the first division but overall think it was quite a even game.
To be fair johnny simpson had a cracking game and prob won the game for eyemouth with his constant threat down the wing.
Eyemouth goals where 2 penalties and missed 1, 2nd pen was very harsh and was lucky to be giving, other 2 where defo pens.
Conditions weren't great but both teams played some good football considering.

was at the eyemouth game yesterday as well,Karl Hudson seems to have a decent chance of promotion with the team he has. Last time i saw them thet were getting clouted 8-0 of kelso, as for yesterdays sending off he deserved it, thought he was having a decent game until then.

Th 8-0 victory 2 kelso that day was a fluke. There league position last year proved this. Hopefully they'll keep same squad next IF they go up as some playas have great potential and could easily fit into a big Edinburgh club !

We've already got one of Kelso's famous sons, so hopefully the great potentials will go to the other big Edinburgh clubs, wouldn't want any jealousy being caused cos they want to follow Beezer, who incidentally was part of the team that won yesterday but never touched the ball, mind you he was only on the field for 5 minutes.

I'd like to see Eyemooth go up, just because they've been fairly crap for most of the time I've followed the East of Scotland League! If only a billionaire would suddenly discover some Hawick roots and a dislike of rugby....
City 1 Gretna 2
City were gifted a goal when Gretna's goalkeeper couldn't control a pass and Myles Hunter robbed the ball off him and shot in. Both sides had chances after that and the Gretna keeper perhaps made amends for his earlier mistake by tipping over a Vanson header. The equaliser came when Storey got behind the City defence and his diagonal shot went in to the far corner and the visitors took the lead with a spectacular volley from Metcalfe from 20 yards. Before half time Gair tackled Rayson on the line, the Gretna man not being best pleased with the tackle decided to thump the City man on the ground and there was a melee. Rayson went off along with Kenny Ross who had tried to break up the fight- I presume the ref decided he'd raised his hands. I thought Gair had put in a fair if strong tackle, some might have seen it as dangerous play but there were a few Gretna tackles of a similar nature in the match.
In the second half both sides had chances to score further goals but couldn't take them. There was a good Gretna support and I look forward to making my first visit to Raydale later in the season- as long as the Gretna starlings don't crap on my heid!
