Problem that seems to have happened. When I watch a laptop through my tv via hdmi i used to be able to view on VLC player which I thinks the best for viewing(unless anyone has any sugggestions) but now no sound only thing that works with sound is windows media player and itunes

When did it change? Is it muted? does it happen for every file?

If media player and Itunes are coming through OK, there's nothing wrong with your hardware setup so the problem must be specific to the software you are using. Try playing the movie through windows media player and see how it goes.

What format's it in? VLC covers most of the common codecs, but you might need a particular one for that file. Alternatively it might be selecting a non-existing audio track by default (you usually have a selection)

.avi files. The thing is it works fine using VLC on my folks 42' tv but my 22' it has no sound
