Just been mentioned on the ESPN commentary that Thierry Henry is playing (and scoring) in a stadium that has a statue of himself outside.

Any other examples of current players being immortalised in stone / bronze while still being a regular player?

Bit of an obscure question I know

Thanks for the wiki link at the end there. I personally have never heard of Gabriel Batistuta. Sounds like he had a pleasant career.

I'm not certain that the reply fits the thread, as origonally the statue was erected behind the goal at the home end.
If it was me, I would have to be up in the gods to get a view of the game.
Perhaps it has been moved to a more appropriate setting.

Edit to add, Beckham sent off 98.

0'40", Batistuta nods.

Maybe it's because the English think they're really funny but aren't? Meaning "laddish" behaviour, in other words, cuntish behaviour.

Both Ronaldos have had statues erected. Apart from Henry, maybe the only ones for current players. Saying that I would not be surprised to see a Park Ji Sun statue in Suwon, where he has a street named after him.
