Although many still doubt our national side, I think we are beginning to develop a team that has strength and depth to it.

http://dannyksports....cotland-xi.html

My team: McGregor, Bardsley, Mulgrew, Berra, Hanley, Adam, Fletcher( if he returns to football ), Brown, Snodgrass, Naismith, Miller

Bench: Gilks, Caldwell, Hutton, Bannan, Forrest, S.Fletcher( if he returns to the Scotland setup), Rhodes.

What do you think of the team i have chosen? And What team would you put out if every player was available?

Craig Gordon will be number 1 goalkeeper again. It's just a matter of when.

Charlie Mulgrew should be nowhere near the Scotland squad and I'm glad every Scotland manager upto now has agreed.

Gordon
Hutton Hanley Berra Bardsley
Forrest Adam D.Fletcher Commons
Rhodes S.Fletcher

If everyone was fit then I would like to see that team. Has a touch of pace, could keep the ball and has two strikers who can stick the ball away.

He's playing really well at the moment and deserves his chance. Only other left back i would consider would be Lee Wallace.

If everyone was fit and available I'd have:

Gordon
Bardsley Hanley Berra Wilson
Forrest Adam Bannan D.Fletcher Naismith
S.Fletcher

Bench: McGregor, Hutton, Caldwell, Morrison, Snodgrass, Miller, Rhodes

With guys like Commons, Dorrans, McCormack, Goodwillie and Brown as cover, we have a very good potential squad.

Also I know its quite an inexperienced back 4, but Hutton has been so dire recently I would grudge including him at the moment.

At the moment our strongest team is and second choice is

Gordon (McGregor)

Hutton (Martin)
Caldwell (Hanley)
Berra (Wilson)
Bardsley (Whittaker)

Adam (Brown)
Fletcher (Cowie)

Bannan (Snodgrass)
Morrison (Dorrans)
Naismith (Mackie)

Miller (Mackail-Smith)

If we were to get 2 better centre halfs then I would possibly consider playing 4-4-2 which would then of course include Steven Fletcher probably starting but I don't think Fletcher is the man for a one up front in our current system.

I'd go for (if fully fit squad)-
..................Gordon...............
Bardsley Berra Hanley Hutton
............Fletcher Brown...........
...Forrest...................Mackie..
............Miller S.Fletcher..........

Subs- McGergor, Caldwell, Adam, Bannan, Morrison, Rhodes, Naismith

Although Hutton has been shite i would still start him. Adam has also been quite poor, so prefer Brown to him. Miller upfront with Fletcher, as soon as hes back in the squad the better. Dorrans, Stevenson, Cowie, Wittaker and Goodwillie the reserves.

Can i have the job now, pleaseeeeeeee!

Scott Brown ahead of Charlie Adam. Don't call us, we'll call you.

Not to mention Hutton at left back. And he's playing 4-4-2, which is not good.

Having said that, his is far from the worst team selected in this thread.

The Scotland XI is pretty much easy to predict.

McGregor (I'm assuming Gordon's just going to float around Sunderland reserves for the rest of the season but things could change - he's by far the better keeper)

Hutton
Berra
Caldwell, G.
Bardsley

Adam

Morrison
Fletcher
Brown
Naismith

Miller

We have quite a few options in midfield, you could play Forrest, Mackie or Bannan without too much of a drop off in quality. Mackail-Smith is next in line for the striking position. We are so short in cover at centre half it's frightening.

I love how you say this IS our best and second best team as if its not up for debate  . My preferred line up at present with everyone fit/available would be:

Gordon (as soon as he is fit)

Hutton
Berra
Hanley
Bardsley

Adam
D. Fletcher

Forrest
Brown
Naismith

S.Fletcher

Subs:

Rhodes
McGregor
Snodgrass
Mulgrew
Dorrans (please start playing well again!)
Bannan
Miller

With Goodwillie, Cowie, McFadden and others there in the background and in the squad if there form is good.

I don't think this team is likely to happen at present as Miller will be playing until he is 50 at this rate and several others are injured/ill.

See, him I've been wondering about. Is he a full-back covering at c/h or a c/h that can play at full-back? The former I'm not so keen on, the latter, aye. I've only seen him a couple of times but he seems pretty capable?

Hanley? I know he's been in a few squads and scored at Old Trafford, but has anyone actually seen him put in a properly good performance? Or is it just because he isn't a Caldwell.

He played really well at Old Trafford but also he has the massive advantage of not being Gary Caldwell

Charlie Mulgrew has actually had a very good season overall for Celtic at centre half and he's had to swap partners on literally a weekly basis (and most of those partners are utter haddies). On basis of form alone he should be getting a look-in ahead of a collection of alternatives from the "please sir may I have another" end of the Premier League.

Charlie Mulgrew is certainly worth a shout. If there's anything that has worried me about Scotland recently, it's the defence. Can he really not be worth a punt?

I would agree with this. Would like to see Hutton out and Bardsley moved to right back but we don't really have any credible alternatives. Hopefully S. Fletcher and Rhodes have emerged/re-emerged as real alternatives up front by then. Other than that can see Mulgrew forcing his way into the reckoning, would be good to see Hanley and Wilson develop enough to challenge too but I don't think it will be in time for the start of the campaign, and Levein is unlikely to want to deviate from his chosen 2 anyway.

I'd say he's more worthy of a shot than Danny Wilson.

Mulgrew has been one of Celtics best players this season imo

I'd agree, Mulgrew's had a good season and we lose nothing by trying him in next month's friendly.

Gordon

Hutton Caldwell Berra Bardsley

Fletcher Adam

Morrison Bannan Naismith

Fletcher

Second team

McGregor

Martin Hanley Wilson Whittaker

Cowie McCarthur

Brown Dorrans Snodgrass

Miller

I'd probably swap Wallace for Whittaker.

Hutton should be nowhere near the Scotland team. He is absolutely dreadful.

Purely as a last resort. He isn't good enough anymore. Whittaker is just bad, but he is at least able to play in a few positions,
