To be fair he did watch an Airdrie team bang in four goals including a socrates like weaving run and finish on Saturday :D

that's correct, was it not 3 goals though? Don't forget the red card! And the subbed player throwing a hissy :).

It must be very demoralising for CC and his team to put on such good performances and have barely 400 people there to watch. I was late in and would have estimated we had 100-150 so that makes the home crowd even more embarrassing if the crowd total of 408 is accurate. The team deserves so much better but how do you attract them in with the OF draining so much support from all of the towns and cities across Scotland?? OFGTF etc

If it is it's showing no signs.

I agree but surely the directors at the club must wonder why they bother when a team flying high at the top of their division 8 points clear and playing excellent football can only muster 250-300 people to a home game (see earlier post). That's criminal.

We've lost many supporters since the 'takeover' but in the last couple of years the supporters trust has initiated an Airdrie Aces club which encourages youngsters to attend games and support the team through a series of attractive initiatives right through the season. This instils some loyalty to the club which hopefully will stay with them for the rest of their lives. I was taken to Broomfield by my father from about age 4 and although I didn't understand much about the game itself I got into the habit of going and eventually became a fan for life a few years later.

As someone said earlier in this thread the only way forward for many provincial clubs is to encourage local kids to support their local team by any means possible. THEY ARE the future of the club.

Rhys Devlin mentioned on twitter how he was disappointed about being boo'd when he came on.

He knows why he is being booed. Disappointed maybe, deserved - maybe!

There's only so much you can do to bring fans through the turnstiles. We have a shocking him support but a great away following, one that is appreciated by the players. A new ground and community set up with a 3G will increase the support slightly I reckon as youngsters will start being part of the club more than ever. This is still a long way away sadly.

Central is in its twilight years and it will put some fans off. I spend a lot of time and money travelling to Cowden every week so the apathy around the town annoys me but doesn't surprise me due to the Old Firm. We have taken 1000 to the Pars, home to Hibs, even the play off games we have had 1000+ fans to away games at Brechin and Stenny. Every clubs trick is getting them their week in week out. An arduous task and one that is nigh impossible!

Under Mixu we averaged nearly 700. I firmly believe a new set up is the only solution. Anyone got a spare few million?

Good posts, weigh cider, right on the money. We sold out all our ticket allocation for the Hibs game, yet the following game against Airdrie was poorly attended -even though we're top of the league and playing well. (It might be a good idea to build up an email database of people who attend the "special" games and keep them informed about the club, along with special deals.)
We've been lamenting over the lack of support from the town for some time, but repeating the laments is a complete waste of time and energy. I agree that we badly need a new stadium - with a terracing - but we now need to develop a long-term plan to engage potential new supporters, primarily through our youth set up (families etc). Our captain Jon Robertson is a great role model for youngsters, having come through the youth system - I'm sure Jon would be an ambassador in the community in talking about the benefits the club gives to the community.
Well done to clubs like Airdrie and Stenny for their initiatives. Would you mind explaining more about what Airdrie Aces do to attract young fans? I'm sure our very committed chairman and board would be interested in what you're doing. And could a Stenny fan tell us what they're doing?

A new stadium is badly needed but I believe that all teams in the 1st,2nd+3rd divisions should let under 16's in for free, once they are in they will probably buy a pie, juice, sweets etc and this will make up for letting them in, Why not give it free entry tickets to kids in the local schools this will make some parents tag along as well, once they start going to games as use know as footy fans we get emotionally attached to our team so hopefully this will keep them coming once they are over 16 they will keep going to support their LOCAL team

Here's a start
The people mentioned in the link would be able to provide much more information on the Airdrie Aces Initiative than I can.

Cracking highlights Ross. God knows how Cameron missed at the end! Also impressive back flick skills from Mini before the opening goal!

Having watched the highlights my thoughts are as follows:
We should have had another penalty, handball.
The keeper probably should have been sent off as Lewis didn't knock it as far away as I thought.
Armstrong makes the second goal with a fantastic header.
McKenzie and Cameron should have scored, Lyle as well.
Lovering is shite, knew that on Saturday though.

Great win though.

I can't believe that linesman who was standing right in front of it couldn't spot that handball. he couldn't have been in a better position to see it if he tried unless he was trying to watch the line to see if anyone was offside as McKenzie crossed it.

Great to see the highlights again from what I thought was quite a good game, Airdrie maybe just lack a bit of quality at the back. Was looking forward to seeing the lad Donnelly, but the service he got was poor, and Mickey almost had two hard worked goals in a row, comfortable victory
