Hard frost expected tonight in Fife iv heard.
Do many games at Bayview get called off due to a frozen pitch?

Just in from work and there is a frost down this way, not too hard though so hopefully a rise in temperature will give a thaw!

Been out and about this morning only a mile or two down the coast. The hoar frost has already vanished and the ground here is fairly soft underfoot.
If this game doesn't go ahead, then winter football is no longer viable in Scotland. And there's no wind to speak of.
Fife have a good chance with this fixture. Arbroath haven't won in five games now.
.
Just looking forward to getting back to humdrum league business. Lichite fans will notice the powerr station behind New Bayview is gone

Supporting Arbroath = the best of all possible worlds. Gayfield Park = stairway to heaven. The team and fans = the worst in the league, apart from all the others. Everything is rosy in our garden

Good start anyway. Andrew Cook after 6 mins.

As soon as i saw the team line-up i wasn't too confident. At least we didn't lose
Key players were injured, and zander diamond wasn't.

Feels like a loss. Only chance Arbroath had today was through set pieces.
We pretty much bossed the whole game and how Dazler missed at the end I'll never know.
Onwards and upwards! Must win the next two games.

A game East FIfe should have won comfortably ,Arbroath were disappointing and created very little from open play.Rather strange team selection from the Arbroath manager - Swankie made an immediate improvement when he came on.Both arbroath full backs had poor matches.Linn gave Brown and later Baxter a chasing on the right and Busch struggled throughout.
Jancyk and McCormack without being anything special added a physical presence that has been lacking in the East Fife midfield.
An improved and much needed performance from East Fifewhich will have to continue if they are to climb the league.
Difficult to see Arbroath challenging Cowden unless the team is strengthened.

Did Swankie start on the bench?

Arbroath started Hill,Busch,Brown,Malcolm,Wedderburn,Kerr,
Baxter,Sheerin,Falkingham,Sibanda and Doris, and apart from Wedderburn the defence was SHOCKING!
Wee Josh spent most of the game facing the wrong way, because the Gaffer cannot get back to defend,Josh cannot dictate play when he is starting from such a deep starting position

Slightly surprised at that as White had Doris on toast all afternoon with Campbell mopping up any spillages. Sibanda should have been hooked far earlier than he was as his contribution was minimal.
Best for Arbroath were Falkingham and Sheerin, exceptional work rate from the pair of them. Honestly can't choose between Durie, Cook, White, Campbell, Linn, Wallace and Hislop for EF's best player. All were excellent...

Arbroath fans think Sibanda is a decent player. He really has been hopeless each time I've seen him but long may he play! Falkingham is a star for Arbroath - if they lose him they can give up any chance of the title. There werer rumours before Christmas about Swankie going elsewhere but I guess minds have been changed. Well done East Fife though it's about time you guys played to your potential.

Arbroath were as good as they were allowed to be. Three strikes on target in whole game. Some players who would rather throw themselves into a dive than play football.
One Arbroath player chased the referee for several minutes, demanding a non-existent free kick, yet miraculously escaped a caution. Same player committed an assault at the corner flag late on and did not even concede a free kick. Maybe the ref did not want to caution a player who is quite clearly too immature for grown up football.
Plus side? Well worth the admission money. Great entertainment. At last East Fife played football, now that the big target man has gone back to Hearts. With this style and this attitude, there is no way this team can go down.
As for Arbroath - I am sure they can play better. Maybe they need to understand that being at the top is not an easy street. They could learn a thing or two from Cowden about playing football when the chips are down, rather than trying to win cheap free kicks and influence the referee. Of the two teams, there is no doubt which one deserves to be Champions and though it hurts me to say it, they come from West Fife, not Angus.

"I shall cherish for a long time the memory of Baxter slowing down the game to almost walking pace, insouciantly juggling the ball with instep, forehead and knees while Stiles, no more than a couple of yards away, bobbed up and down, unsure whether to make his challenge at knee or head level."(Glyn Edwards, Glasgow Herald, 17 April 1967)
