I take it, from the starting XI for Morton, that they started with a flat-ish 4-4-2? McGeouch on for Giaco suggests a change to a midfield diamond, with O'Brien at the tip (and scoring from there)?

No.

Do you care to explain what they looked like, then? Or is the answer to that just as obvious.

McGeough replaced Di Giacomo on the right.
The Div and Ric 'Virgil' Vigil. Never forget the laughter.

It's hard to work out how our midfield is meant to be working at the moment. As the previous poster has said, Di Giacomo and McGeough swapped into the same position.
The first half we were pretty poor again. Much better in the second, meaning that Tidser and Bachirou were getting forward more.

Tactics aren't something that I look at particularly. I was being a bit of a smart arse as well. Sorry.

Never thought of McGeough as a winger, which is why I thought the midfield was tweaked.

No probs.

Dont think anybody controlled anything. Pretty even game which could have been won by either team. As others say, the draw was about right. I'm sure the big Casa fella is still a bit ring rusty but if he knuckles down and remains patient - he'll trouble a few defences in this division.

Unless you're John McGlynn, who for the second week in a row prefers to have a good greet about how many chances they supposedly created without somehow winning the game.

Perhaps someone should let him know that the objective is to score goals and keep them out, rather than to create chances for a while and then get pegged back quite easily. For a team that "did everything but win the game" I barely saw Raith make a chance in the final half-hour.

More of a 'right midfielder', he wasn't bombing up and down like a winger. Or doing much else.

McGeouch isn't a winger, he will play and do a job there for the team but he is a central midfielder who is also a great wee passer of the ball.

He pulls up his socks a lot and looks lost, any mention of footballing ability is clearly a lie.
Goal scorers 2011/12
Peter MacDonald 15; Andy Jackson 12; Paul di Giacomo, Archie Campbell & David O'Brien 8; Peter Weatherson 5; Michael Tidser 3; Darren McGeouch 2; Derek Young, Marc Smyth, Lewis Hawke & Fouad Bachirou 1

We played a fairly wide diamond in midfield in the second half, with Tidser in front of Fred in the middle, Obri on the left and McGeough on the right.

TBH though it played more like a five in midfield with no-one on the right. It's all part of Moore's seemingly illogical strategy; he built a midfield for a 4-5-1 and an attack for 4-4-2. So we end up playing a diamond which doesn't fully work and a flat 4 which doesn't fully work because we play with 2 strikers.

He didn't build a midfield for a 4-5-1 at all: we have two wide right midfielders who are producing absolutely nothing. That is why we have to take measures, otherwise the 4-4-2 cum 4-2-4 that we had earlier in the season would still be in use.

Away wi yi. He is a central midfielder with plenty of ability who is for the team playing out wide. Darren is one of the most accurate passers at the club!

With Tidser, Bachirou, MacDonald, Weatherson and Cappie at the club he's not even in top 5 Mr McGeough.

I'm sure Mac Donald himself said McGeouch can play a perfect pass over the top right on the money. Allan Moore also saw this attribute in his game prior to bringing him in. But its all opinions!!

^^^ sobbing uncontrollably

Unfortunately a load of weepy cry-baby sentimentality about 'the youths' isn't going to change the nature of his mediocre, sub-standard performances. If it did, then Fevin Finlayson and happy-clappers like you would be watching Champions League football instead of him turning out for some two-bob Junior outfit.

You just don't see enough of the double comma these days.
Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!
